When I was working downtown; I was a every Thursday "Happy Hour" fan. The staff was always attentive, stopping and speaking with all customers. The Owner would even stop by my table to be polite and courtesy! I started inviting my friends and family! I used to really love this place, Dugan's. Well I went yesterday (Sunday), knowing that I could eat, drink and definitely watch some sports. Well, my waitress (Tonia, (if that's incorrect spelling, I apologize) was great!!. However, I watched some of the football games and ordered my food to-go, the Fish n Chips!!! Got home, food still hot but totally NASTY tasting! So, I'm trying to be polite and not do a bad review. I called and asked for the manager. A lady got on the phone, stating her name is Miranda. I explained that I had just left there. At this time, I advised her that the fish had no seasoning, none at all. She said, "There may have been a mistake in the kitchen."??? I then said, "No seasoning in batter even."? I said Miranda, the whole meal was nasty tasting. I then kindly said to Miranda that I wanted to let them know about the food directly. Because of my love for Dugan's and the Owner. So, I said I didn't want to do a bad public post. This Miranada, the Manager stated "Ok" and hung up!!! I didn't actually expect a refund at that time. I just wanted some courtesy and concerns for my awful experience and at least say something like I am truly sorry for your awful experience, and is there anything I can do to correct your awful experience. But, Miranda, the manager, hung up in my face (a customer). Will not go back and eat at Dugan's, I'm posting my...
Read moreBad service, good food: My wife and I stopped in because the food looked good. Ordered the stew, salad, and onion rings. The salad was good. She liked the ranch dressing. The stew was really good. Maybe a little too much pepper but still good. The onion rings were a little over done and didn't have much flavor. The were OK with the dipping sauce.
The issue we had was with the service. Our server, Trey, spent most of his time talking. The initial service was good, got drinks pretty quick and our order. After the food was delivered, service dropped. My water and drink were gone but we didn't see him. I switched to my wifes water at that point. Trey did a walk by at one point saying something like are you good. By then we were about done. Shortly after that, we stacked our dishes and waited, and waited. We saw trey in the kitchen talking. He then walked right past us. We holard at him to get his attention so we could get our check. He walked back, grabbed the check, then set it down at our table and said he would be right back. My wife was holding the credit card, but he didn't notice. He then walked to a table behind us and started talking. We assuming they were regulars. That went on for a few minutes, then he walked back to the kitchen area and talked some more. Finally he noticed my wife staring him down. He stopped talking and came back to grab the check.
We did like the food so I guess the next time we are there we will...
Read moreMyself and some friends regularly go to Dugan's and we really love it, I always get the veggie burger - and it's always good. The service is great too, usually very lively, funny, and helpful. Super laid back place.
However, some friends and I were walking in and we approached a man searching for cigarette butts, so we stopped and gave him a few cigarettes and asked him if he was hungry, and of course he said yes so we each threw him a couple bucks. A few Dugan's employees come over and interrupt us to berate this man as if he were an animal, and publicly criticized us for helping him. They accused him of trying to buy drugs, or alcohol. We tried to tell these people that we didn't care how he spent the money, we just wanted to make his night a little better, but they were persistent and genuinely hateful. It really left a bad taste in our mouths for this place.
With that being said, I totally understand that for aesthetic reasons, you wouldn't want someone panhandling outside a place of business, but there are tactful ways to handle delicate situations, and maintaining a compassionate attitude towards people less fortunate than the majority. We approached this man, not the other way around. Don't belittle humans, and don't tell people what to do with their money. We will probably be back, but we are definitely going to be taking a break from Dugan's...
