This was my first time checking in and it will be my last. For those looking to book a conference, please read about my experience below before doing so. No one should have to experience what I did at a “landmark hotel” . ||||My organization was having a conference at this hotel for 3 days. I checked in the night before at 8:30 pm, because my organization had booked my hotel room for x3 nights and I had the confirmation for it as well. I was just expecting to verify my confirmation at the front desk and check-in to my room like I have been with other hotels I’ve stayed at.||||When I was trying to check-in, the girl at the front desk said I had to pay for my room, otherwise I couldn’t go in. This didn’t make sense to me, because my booking was already confirmed and my organization had already placed a card on file for attendees of the conference. Any charge relating to the hotel and the members of the conference were to be placed on the card on file. To reiterate, the organization had authorized the hotel to place charges on the card on file.||||I mentioned this to her, but she didn’t seem to get it. She was adamant about getting my personal card. She didn’t even attempt to look into the conference that was being held or see if there indeed was a card on file for this specific event. I explained to her that this wasn’t right and if I could stay that Tuesday night, because my organization was already closed. Thus, I couldn’t get in touch with the coordinator who booked my stay. Again she asked for my personal card and charged me $787.84 for the 3 nights. Due to suspected fraudulent activity, the charge did not go through.||||She then charged me a second time without telling me, but this time for an amount of $1,087.84. I only knew about this, because I got another suspected fraudulent charge notification. ||||In the midst of trying to figure all this out, she made no attempt to seek assistance from a manager nor did she tell customers behind me that she would be right with them. Rather she asked that I move to the side so she could help other customers. I felt embarrassed and shocked she would treat guests in such a manner. For a hotel that prides itself with “world-class service” on its homepage, her service was nothing near "world-class".||||When I got back to the front desk, the manager was there and apologized about the issue. He promised that my personal card would no longer be charged and that he would be okay with me staying that Tuesday night. All that he asked was that I pay a refundable $300 accidental insurance fee, so I did. The girl at the front desk was standing by the manager and did not say a word. ||||By the time I was in my hotel room, it was 11 pm. It took almost 2.5 hours to figure all this out. If the girl at the front desk knew better, she either would’ve sought assistance from the manager right then and there avoiding this 2.5 hour situation or told me about the refundable $300 fee and allow me to figure out the situation the next morning since it was late at night. I just don’t understand why she didn’t attempt to check the card on file by the organization and place the charges there. ||||The next day, my conference coordinator got in contact with the hotel and assured me I would not be charged any further. ||||The next morning at 7 a.m, I saw a charge of $193.92. I spoke with the manager and she refunded me. She said that management didn’t communicate well about the situation that transpired so that’s why my personal card was charged again. It was evident management from Tuesday night and all of Wednesday withheld information from other management teams, blindsiding its own. ||||I told the manager that morning that I will no longer be staying, because management is not trustworthy. ||||As a patient on medications, I experienced severe anxiety and panic attacks after I walked away from the desk. Tuesday night was outright embarrassing, unprofessional and time-consuming. Thursday morning was just full of anxiety all over again having to deal with the same situation. ||||I sincerely wish management and its...

Read moreWoW Wow Wow, this place is absolutely phenomenal. I spent a fantastic 48 hours cocooned in the Fairmont’s elegance, hospitality and service. Whoever is in charge of hiring and training did an excellent job in recruiting a wonderful team. Every encounter was polite and gracious. I felt well cared for by the staff, there are too many to name but some were stand outs during my stay. Bernard, a charming sweet man who helped with my luggage, Mark at Halo, so kind, professional and accommodating, Luis at Nettuno recommended the best crab pasta, never rushed me and allowed me time and space to enjoy a long & delicious lunch. Mariah at the spa & another gentleman who was there with her (pardon me I forgot his name). They both exuded such peace and tranquility I immediately relaxed in their presence. Onna the absolute best therapist, she knew what my body needed and got out all the tension and muscles aches. The spa is a nicely appointed clean facility, they have a lovely relaxing lounge, and an excellent eucalyptus infused steam room that allowed me to detox completely. Highly recommend taking advantage of their spa promo right now, you won’t regret it. ||The hotel itself is an architectural delight, with white marble, high ceilings, opulent lighting, rooms are on the petite side but comfortable, I slept like a baby, nicely decorated, it also has an espresso machine and a tiny fridge. I did not want to leave and found no reason to step out, they had everything you needed. There is a decent size gym 2 levels with new modern equipment for a great workout. A large heated pool with tons of plush seating will definitely be a hit when the weather warms up. I had a fun time bar hopping; there are 4 bars on the property and each bar is unique and stylish. La Sala is the only one that opens early , the rest opens at 5pm. Alter Ego has live music, Skyroom has a small bar area, if you can’t snag dinner rsvp you can at the bar, first come first serve. Halo my fave is the best rooftop bar with incredible views of LBC and the Queen Mary. Drinks are definitely on the pricey side but worth it. The bars are a vibe with a mixture of in-house guests and outside patrons for a mature, eclectic, unpretentious and fun atmosphere. There are only two restaurants; Nettuno has excellent Italian food, and the Skyroom is classy, stunning sophistication, both offers a sumptuous dining experience. ||This fine establishment is less than two months old, indeed there are areas of improvement as they work out the kinks, but in a few more months no doubt they will be running at 100% perfection. The Fairmont is a grand addition to the city and I am so happy it’s here. Thank you Fairmont you are sooooo worth the splurge, I had the best staycation and can’t...
