Restaurant is trying very hard to be something they lack experience in. Akin to someone who rents an expensive car to drive it around in town to show off... Chez Bacchus equally comes off poorly. Host made it clear they were farm to table, yet most meat and veg was neither local nor seasonal. Hostess made it a point to tell us they poached their sommelier from Napa Rose at Disneyland and that should tell us how serious they are. Wait staff were friendly but often fell over themselves trying to manage complex dishware and table real estate which struggled to handle, water glasses, tea set, bread and an appetizer. Ever action is priced an taxed, even water service. There's a reason luxury restaurants don't do this. Food was intelligently crafted and well done but kitchen failed to keep both dishes warm even when the restaurant was less than 15% full (3 tables). Sadly this restaurant is highly priced for the neighborhood, pretentious and pretending to be something their not. This is not a Michelin star in disguise.
Would a Michelin star restaurant forget a detail like missing...
Read moreWe loved the owners. They greet you and chat with you. One is a sommelier and recommended a great wine. They have a mixologist that made amazing drinks for us - mine tasted like an apple pie. The appetizers were very good. We got the shrimp and the cheese plate. The main courses were disappointing though. The duck was rubbery but whatever it was swimming in, (a juicy gravy) was divine. Two at our table got the risotto both said it lacked depth and flavor (Everyone who makes risotto on top chef gets kicked off so I'm not sure why anyone puts this on their menu). One of us got the fish (Halibut maybe? It was a white fish) he said it was the best he's eaten. The entrees were not cheap at all between $35-$60 per plate so we ate them all up except for one of the risottos. We were exhausted from the year and wanted to just BE and talk and enjoy each other's company. We just didn't want to complain. The restaurant was beautiful and again the people were nice. I'm guessing it was a bad night for the chef - try it for sure, but don't get...
Read moreThe atmosphere was fancy and the Host sat us down near the windows in the front. He placed our napkins on our laps, he asked if we wanted flat or sparkling water. We received our menus and the wine list and water very quickly. We ordered appetizer and the food came out quickly. We ordered octopus appetizer, duck, risotto, and a millefeuille apple dessert. The octopus and duck was excellent. We shared everything and it all tasted great. We weren’t completely satisfied with the risotto recipe. We came in winter and sitting by the window was quite cold. There was a large party, and a few other couples. There is actually a great place to sit at the bar to have a meal as well. We thought it wasn’t that busy for a Friday. We came to celebrate a birthday, and they brought our dessert with a candlelit on top. I would love to come again for a special occasions. The price could have been price better. The wine list was excellent. We were...
