Had this restaurant on my hit list for a while since it popped up on my IG feed. Also, a friend recommended it. It's a 30 minutes drive from my home. Lucky they have a small private parking lot as parking is a bit challenging in that area. When we arrived the parking mostly full but lucky found one last available spot. We were excited to try the food and also a bit hungry. We arrived at 3:45pmas we were trying to get a super early dinner to beat the crowd and also to go to the beach afterwards to enjoy the day and watch the sunset.
There were many people waiting in the parking lot which we found a bit unusual. Then when we walked to the entrance we saw a hand written sign that said they will reopen at 5:30pm. It looked like it originally said 5:00pm but over written to 5:30pm
We decided to wait a bit since we were already there. There's no outside seating so we just sat in the car. While waiting, we saw so many people come and leave once they realized that the restaurant wasn't open. They lost so many customers.
We tried waiting but the area was too hot. So after an hour of waiting we decided to take our business elsewhere that's open. There are lots of restaurants in the area that are open.
It seems like they open in the morning then close midday then reopen later in the afternoon. I understand a few Asian restaurants do that but at least they list their operating hours online out at the entrance.
We left very disappointed...very let down.
The restaurant looks like it has plenty of indoor and covered patio seating. There were guests inside eating. I guess they arrived before they closed midday.
They need to correct their operating hours online!
I might considered returning if they address their hours of operations as I'll not drive again just to find...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a good Thai place in Long Beach, go here! And look.. I get it, they have orange chicken on their menu (to cater to certain ppl who wrongly associate orange chicken with Thai food) but don’t be like Richard over there and order orange chicken at a Thai restaurant expecting it to knock your socks off.
Food - we got the Pork Jerky and Wings for appetizers. I would eat these 2 things for my whole meal next time. They were soooo good! The pork jerky marinade was legit Thai and they picked the best part of the pork pieces where it was a little fatty and tender but still had that “Thai” jerky feel. The sauce that came with the jerky was on point and I seriously love purple sticky rice! Wings were perfect blend of sweet and salty and savory. Great fry crunch and meaty wings. The mango curry was a miss for me. It wasn’t bad but it was great. I feel like it had more Indian curry flavor instead of Thai curry flavor. I’d probably go with the panang curry next time instead. The garlic shrimp noodles were good, I just wish it was more saucey. It needed some sauce/moisture. Pad see ew is always a must for me when I eat Thai. This one didn’t disappoint. Love that they keep it authentic and use Chinese broccoli!
Service - they ran out of mango sticky rice but were sweet about it even with tables upset with them. Service was good, food was quick and they made sure we had our drinks full. Very nice servers.
Parking - free small little parking lot. I can see it getting crowded when busy but we were able to find 2 spaces very easily. Love...
Read moreWe are big fans of Thai food and recently visited from Minnesota. We walked over from our hotel for lunch, each opting for the lunch special (Mango Curry and Nutty Chicken) which came with rice, a vegetable roll, a salad and an entree. It took one bite to know this would be some of the best Thai food we'd ever have. We like spice and the "spicy" level was just right. Flavors were amazing and so well-balanced - nothing was over spicy or sweet or salty: just. perfect. The value for the portion at lunch was amazing, everything was so nicely presented and the food was so incredibly good that we decided to return for dinner. The hostess recognized us from lunch and was so kind to share with the chef that we had come back. She was so delighted she gave us a delicious Mango Sticky Rice on the house that we somehow made room to devour after enjoying amazing cocktails complete with edible flower garnishes, Avocado Curry and another chicken dish. I wish I had made the effort to take photos, but know that the presentation represented on their website is truly how beautifully these dishes are brought to you. Kin is doing Thai food at a level of artistry that we had not experienced and sets the bar high for any Thai restaurant we'll visit in the future. If ever our travels bring us back to Long Beach, we know we'll be back (probably for lunch AND dinner again)! Thank your for your hospitality and sharing your...
