All I wanted was good chicken and rice. Sometimes you just want very specific things and when I saw Sushi Mafia I was relieved because I associate Japanese food with taste, beauty and efficiency which is what I wanted to take back to my hotel room. I decided on the Chicken Katsu. I was a walk in order, during dinner rush, which was my fault. I was pleased by the friendliness of the woman who took my order and offered a drink while I waited. It took a while because it was busy with in house customers and delivery orders (Which to me is always a good sign), inspite of it being my fault for picking the busiest time she slid in a miso soup, and I liked that. I felt special and I love free stuff. I got to my hotel room and even though I was starving I had to take photos. It was PERFECT! CRISPY, JUICY AND FLAVORFUL . NOTHING WAS LEFT not even the salad. The peanut sauce is AWESOME, they should sell it by the bottle. I'm picky and I loved it all. They even give you the correct amount of condiments and utensils. The fresh ginger alone had me smiling because of the quality. I got the chicken katsu. It was worth every penny and I will definitely eat there again. It tastes even better than the pictures.
IT'S SO GOOD!!!!! Tell them...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time visiting Sushi Mafia after seeing all the positive recommendations. We were not disappointed. We arrived on a Sunday night around 6:30PM and were promptly seated. Most of the tables had patrons and it was lively.
The service was excellent. It was prompt, efficient, and courteous. Iced waters and miso soups were brought out while we were given menus to peruse. We ordered a couple items to share and was not disappointed.
4/5 Vegetable tempura was fried well and came out piping hot. Wish they swapped out the shishito peppers for sweet potato though.
4/5 The salmon & avocado roll had a little too much rice but it is overall solid.
3/5 The spicy salmon roll was mid and forgettable. The chili oil gave a kick but nothing too major.
5/5 The Gentleman Roll was super tasty and a highlight of the meal. Spicy tuna on the inside and topped with tuna, avocado, green onions, and a spicy ponzu. The roll had a slight kick but was overall really savory with a great mouth feel.
5/5 Another recommended item was the chicken katsu. It was thin and fried well. They used a panko batter to make it light and crispy. Even though the chicken was thin, it wasn't dry.
Would definitely come back to order the specialty rolls and skip the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to this place on Friday June 18th 2021 for Dinner with my family. We made a reservation, and still had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. By the time we got seated, we didn't get to place our order or get drinks till another 30 minutes after that. The octopus tasted like it had been sitting out a long time and the spicy tuna roll was the worst I ever had. There were other food issues as well but these were the most notable. Overall I give this place a 4 out of 10. As someone who knows cuisine and is a chef, i can say either a lot of these reviews on here are FAKE or a lot of people that show up here have never had real Japanese food and also have low standards for quality/ service. If you enjoy real Japanese cuisine and welcoming, decent service- Stay far away from this place. The worst food experience I've ever had in Long Beach. Oh and I forgot to mention, their whole kids menu was "unavailable" because their grill isn't working. This place needs to get their...
