This is my favorite bakery in Long Beach. Their pastries are very good quality and sized generously. Their croissants are incredible. I highly recommend the plain croissant, strawberry and cream croissant, nutella croissant, and pain au chocolat. The filling for the strawberry and cream croissant is the best. I believe it is whipped strawberry mascarpone. Their gluten free muffins have a nice texture. The matcha croissant is not my favorite, as it is somewhat lacking in matcha flavor. I would compare the coating to the matcha Pocky coating.
As for their brunch, it is also incredible. The baked eggs are my favorite. The sauce is very good and the eggs were cooked perfectly, with bright orange yolks. It's incredibly fresh and vibrant from the bright tomatoes and fresh herbs, but also balanced out with creamy soft cheese. It's served with a fresh crispy baguette. I would recommend the brioche toast as a shared sweet appetizer. We ordered ours with a side of blueberry jam. One area that they could work on is their coffee quality. The cappuccino was quite bitter and the milk was not steamed very well. I ordered the peanut little, which is made with housemade peanut milk, layered with espresso and some milk foam and topped with cacao nibs. I would not recommend this drink because it has a strange texture. It's somewhat gritty and the cacao nibs mean you have to chew when you drink. I have also tried the banana buzz, which I found to be very watery and it did not have a strong banana flavor. Instead of ordering coffee here, I would recommend walking down the street to get a coffee at Coffee Drunk while waiting for a table for brunch, as the wait is usually...
Read moreIf you’re in Long Beach and craving a meal that feels like a warm hug, Nonna Mercato is the spot. Founded by Chef Cameron Slaugh, this neighborhood artisan bakery and Pastaio blends French and Italian roots with a passion for tradition. They hand-shape naturally leavened breads and pastries, sourcing the highest quality organic and sustainable ingredients—straight from farm to table.
We stopped by and let me just say—the Malfaldine stole my heart. Think rich, creamy Bolognese swirled with Pecorino and basil. Pure comfort in a bowl.
But the real star? The cultured butter and jam—I could honestly visit just for that dreamy combo. Don’t skip it!
For starters, the Caesar salad with little gems, seeded croutons, parm, and cracked pepper was super fresh. Pro tip: let the croutons soak a bit—they soften up beautifully.
My partner went for the Croque Seniora, a buttery croissant layered with French ham, béchamel, taleggio, and sunny-side eggs, paired with a House-made Bloody Mary. Let’s just say he didn’t leave a crumb.
IMPORTANT REMINDER—they stop serving food after 3. I didn’t see this anywhere, so please keep that in mind when planning your visit.
Heads up—there might be a wait, but you can snack on pastries and sip specialty coffee from their market while you hang out. Street parking is available too!

Read moreAbsolutely in love with this cute and Earth toned chic eatery and bakery. They’re limited (in a good way) on seating. They don’t seat you until you have your full party. When you walk inside there’s a bakery that kind of seems hidden. They have bread, muffins, and croissants for sale inside (not listed on dine in menu really). They also sale individual beverages inside too. When I sat down with a friend to dine, the table was set so cute and aesthetically appeasing. They pour you water from a glass bottle (sophisticated 😅). I ordered the quiche which they serve it with bacon or veggie. Come before 10:30am if you want veggie because it sales quickly. It came with a delicious salad. I loved having Marissa as a server!!!! She made the entire experience definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. She was so attentive to our table, explained the menu, made suggestions, and was very conversational throughout my dine in experience. She is there Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday ✨🌸 Their menu also consists of yummy lunch items and some pasta 💛 If you’re hesitant to try, I’d say give it a shot! Worth every penny! Oh yeah ☺️ you walk away with a card at the end with the name of the restaurant which is so thoughtful...
