Very impressed from beginning to end.
Our party of 6 needed no reservation and with a quick shuffle of the tables, we were easily accommodated on the patio. The evening was beginning to cool down and a bottle of the House Red and some cocktails was just the thing we needed to relax and unwind after such a hot day.
After a bit of catching up and a toast to our friendship, we decided to order. Chicken Shawarma, Lamb Kabab, Taboon Mix Grill, and Salmon would be some of the choices of the evening, all with high recommendations. Our server, Dayana, may have been new to this restaurant but certainly not new to her disposition, as she patiently took our orders, answered our questions, and didn’t even flinch at separating our table into three checks, her people skills were spot on as she interacted with us, adapting to our silly antics. Dayana’s professionalism shined through and we knew we were in good hands.
Meal time! Our dinners were delivered quickly from the kitchen to our table by other team members. Ooo’s and ahh’s filled the air as the meals were placed in front of us almost intuitively knowing who ordered what and where to set each plate. The staff impressing us once again with such coordination. Presentation to the front!
Each of our meals were absolutely delicious only to be made better by our conversations, comradery, and laughter, and an honored table visit from Chef Jacob. Some amazing house-made baklava to end the evening...
Read moreI'm from the Detroit/Dearborn, MI area. So most people know that we have some of the best Middle Eastern/Lebanese restaurants outside of the Middle East. I've been to most of them and they are truly excellent. Especially the Crushed Lentil soups. Thick with a touch of garlic and lemon juice is what I look for. There are many variations but this is the base. So when in Long Beach recently on a visit near this restaurant, I though I would try it. I say try it I mean the lentil soup, because if it isn't "right" or close as I've described above, I will not order anything else. The lentil soup tells me everything. This lentil soup told me nothing or everything. Although the owner or manager and waitress were very friendly, the soup was not. I ordered a small bowl with coffee. The soup came in a small round bowl - a cup size with toasted pita chips. It looked very thin. The pale yellowy liquid with bits of green - maybe parsley - floated on the surface. As I dug down to the bottom I finally discovered the crushed lentils - about 3 tbs worth. This was not right in my estimation. And certainly not what I expected. Yes, 3/4 of the contents of the bowl was liquid! This would not fly in Detroit or Dearborn. I was as crushed as the little lentils on the bottom. I did not complain. I considered that maybe this is how this soup is served in Long Beach. I would not order anything else. I payed and left disappointed. The coffee was good and...
Read moreThis is our first time here since the Management/Ownership change. I like the decor change and update. Looks brighter inside. However with the COVID dining restrictions we were only able to enjoy the outdoor patio which what we prefer anyway.
Our server, Dietrich was friendly and welcoming and got us seated right away. The tables are spread out and we were the only one when we arrived.
To start, we ordered the Hummus with Beef Shawarwa and Baba Ghanouj. The Hummus was outstanding, fresh with perfectly flavored beef. Baba Ghanouj was very creamy, really balance flavor. A+!
For the main course, I ordered the Taboon Mix Grill and substituted the hummus with Tabouleh Salad. Grilled to perfection and seasoned well. Chicken was moist, beef very tender and juicy and kefta was delicious. The portion is huge, good enough to share for two people.
My friend, ordered the Salmom Plate. The salmon was a huge portion, seasoned and grilled perfectly.
Wonderful first time experience. Dietrich was attentive and accommodating. Of course we ended taking half of the plate and saved for later on. Definitely worth what we paid for. Highly recommend and looking forward to coming...
