Greetings peninsula folks and beyond and cheers from your friendly neighborhood peninsula foodie! Looks like a blustery end to 2023 here at the beach so hold on to your hats! I finally got a chance to stop in at the Taco Shack since it changed hands earlier this year and they did not disappoint! As I had a gift certificate still burning a hole in my pocket, I grabbed a couple different items to check it out. As a burrito junkie, I knew I had to grab that carnivore burrito... and since I had a bit more on my GC, I went ahead and grabbed 3 street tacos each with a different protein. Now that carnivore burrito is legit! It's a behemoth that I was able to eat without a fork, but just barely. With all the meats, you may struggle to finish it since its loaded up with refried beans, Mexican rice, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, diced onions, sour cream, shredded cheese and guacamole! Every bite was full of flavor and the meats were so tender and juicy. I added my own hot sauces since, you know, I keep a stash at work...😂 On point! The street tacos were just that... great little street tacos. Perfectly portioned and just about 3-4 bites each, they were good! Double corn tortillas filled with your choice of meats...I got 1 with the carne asada, 1 with El Pastor and 1 with birria. They come topped with diced onions and cilantro and are topped with a generous amount of queso fresco. With a squeeze of lime on each taco they were ready to go! Chowed down on those, made short work of em, and at only $3 a pop, you'll get a great meal at a reasonable price! So if you're looking for another great Mexican food place to grab a bite, stop in and say hi to the crew over at the Taco Shack on the corner of Sid Snyder and Pacific. If ya do, tell em the foodie sent ya! Until next time, cheers and beach appetit from your friendly neighborhood peninsula foodie! 🌊😎🔥

This is a great addition to Long Beach. This savory little food stand is nestled right off of Pacific Ave (on Sid Snyder) and in prime location for a good lunch on the beach. The staff were friendly and I liked the music playing in the building, which was lound enough to entertain you while you wait without being obnoxiously loud (good call guys). We tried tacos and carnitas and were not disappointed. The meet was flavorful and fresh. The onion and cilantro were cut small and evenly (good knife skills are both a *must* and dwendling in the industry). I really enjoyed my food. Some feedback: I would have wanted my tortilla cooked a little more or less oil, and 2 tacos were ordered without onion and had them (so I ate them, more for me!) I'm excited to see where this goes...

Ate here on a wednesday around noon. Asked counter person if fish taco or burritos were better and got the answer "burritos are big, they are good". So i went with the grande burrito, family tried the burrito bowls. They do not have a deep fryer on site so fish and other meats are grill only. Great hot, hot sauce. Did not try mild or verde sauces. Burrito was fantastic. I like that they use fresh tomatoes and the steak was not those grisly, tough/cheap pieces i have had at other "authentic" taco trucks. There are a couple picnic tables on site, no shade. If there were bathrooms available we did not notice them.

Coming from Southern California I'm not expecting great mexican food this far north. I've actually been pleasantly surprised though, there are some places in Vancouver, Longview, and even Astoria that have been quite good. I'm talking more taco shop, food cart type of places, not nice restaurant type places. I haven't tried much of anything about Long Beach yet but decided to try this place out. It's very bland, and fairly dry. I suggest getting extra sauce, unless you prefer more dry. I tried three different things to get a good idea, so I'd know if I had a good, local taco shop to go to out here. Breakfast burrito was very bland and very dry. I've never had one so plain before, and a bit heavy on the potato. Birria taco plate was okay but the birria is just shredded beef to me. I get birria frequently in SoCal and it's always good to great and it's never so plain. These were shredded beef street tacos. Also decided to taste test a rock fish taco, since I've never had rock fish. It's not a strong fish flavor but to me a fish taco is more about the rest of the ingredients than the actual fish. It really just tasted like lettuce, onions and cilantro, along with a very mild fish. I didn't even notice the sauce or slaw in it. I go to Astoria quite a bit and will just be doing my taco shop/cart visits out there, as both I've tried so far have been very good and there are more...

So grateful for Taco Shack and their delicious food and amazing service! While in Long Beach for a family reunion, we wanted to do a group dinner and had everything except the rice/beans/chips/salsa. At about noon, I walked up to the window and asked if they could do rice/beans/chips/salsa for about 30 people in a few hours. Understandably, the person working the window had to call her boss, who was very kind and spoke to me on the phone. They took my information and right on time, they brought the food. The chips had clearly just been made, and everything was fresh. They charged me a very reasonable price for a large order, and I believe they were even there after hours according to the hours posted online. The food was DELICIOUS and everyone was delighted. Everything had great flavor. Everyone fought over the leftovers! A huge thank you to the professionalism and kindness of this stand, the food was amazing and made our dinner delicious. 10/10 would recommend to anyone hosting...
