Ive never had bao buns worse than these. The filling was watered down and lacking flavor, the bun was dry and crunchy. Ive never had these not steamed and for good reason. The mass produced frozen bao buns from Walmart blow these out of the water. The owner wasn't rude persay, but he may have just been tactless and said some things that could have been perceived as underhanded. Ive made bao buns myself before just from an online recipe and the mark they set was not difficult to surpass. The dough if steamed (they are frozen and reheated) i think would have been fine, the filling needs work and is the main show though.

In response to owner feedback: there was no anger or venting in this review, its simply a review which is meant to be the accumulation of honest individual experiences and should be available for the public to sift through and form their own opinion from, not hidden or bribed away by business owners(not saying that was your intent), several others i talked to agreed that the food needs work so i dont think it was simply an off day. If the food is good and im wrong this review will be an anomaly and the rating will rise, if others agree and share their experience the rating will drop and hopefully adjustments would be made accordingly which i would prefer to the...

best place have asian cuisine around ocean park, such a sweet family who operates it, you can tell they really care about their job and their customers! i got the beef soup, tea eggs, yaki soba noodles, sweet and sour soup, vegetable bao, and a tofu skewer, and they were all amazingly delicious! the owner was very generous and also gave me a Nutella bao bun, and oh my gosh it was fantastic! i met a person in line while i was waiting for my order who is a regular and they told me that they were gluten free and they loved all of the gluten free bao options. the sweet and sour soup is also totally vegetarian, and i’m pretty sure vegan! similarly to a lot of places in the area it’s a small space inside with a long table inside and a picnic table outside, so takeout might be the best option if you have a very large group! there are a lot of places outside around ocean park where you can find a table to eat at though so i really don’t see it as a downside! overall amazing options for everyone, something for everyone in the family (even your grandpa who doesn’t really like asian food!) they completely deserve the 4.9 stars they have gained here, will be coming back every time i am in the area! thank you so much formosa bao for the...

Formosa bao Is a bit of a hole in the wall place in a very tiny strip mall; it’s easily missed; but absolutely delicious. It was pretty much the only place in Long Beach, where I could find several vegan items to eat. It’s something I wish smaller coastal towns would take into consideration both with different cuisine type and offering plant based fare on their menus; they could draw in a lot more people who have specific dietary restrictions and needs.

My husband and I shared the tofu curry bao, The veggie bao, Some veggie potstickers, and fresh yakisoba noodles with veggies in them. It was more than enough food for two people for a nice lunch. Everything was made from scratch and flavorful, and the two ladies that worked in the kitchen were very friendly. it is a bit of a small and tiny place. There is one long table with a few chairs and stools, but not very comfortable and fairly loud in there. I think most people take their orders to go however we felt very welcome there and had a nice time eating.

I would definitely come back...

We walked by the main street and saw their ads so we gave it a try. Friendly and passionate people introduced their vegetarian/vegan options. Their handmade vegan Bao-Zi is filled with lots of fresh veggies, i.e. zucchini, mushroom, cabbage, tofu and green bean noodles. We took a bite and it’s really flavorful. The handmade scallions pancake also tastes really good. If you’re a vegetarian also make sure try their tea egg which has a very aromatic scent and good flavors. They also provide soy sauce with sesame oil and homemade special sweet n sour sauce which are perfect for dipping. Superb delicious food!! Highly recommendable if you’re spending holiday at Long Beach!!

What a GIFT to find authentic, delicious, fresh Bao (and amazing soups!) in Long Beach! Every dumpling and posticker we tried was delicious, but our family fav was the sausage Bao. I enjoyed both the Taiwanese Beef Soup (rich, perfectly blended beef stew) and Hot and Sour Soup, which is both vegan and hearty with a delicious blend of flavors. There's just two tablea inside (one four-top, one two) but we were lucky and got one and enjoyed being the cozy spot, close enough to watch the pros cook. They could not have been more warm and welcoming. We will definitely be back here. Highly recommend!

This small, privately owned shop serves up delicious, homemade Taiwanese bao, dumplings and soup. The owner is so kind and helpful. Try the Taiwanese beef soup. It wasn’t ready when we came in and we decided to wait. The owner gave us a call when it was ready and it was certainly worth the wait. The shrimp potstickers were juicy and incredibly flavorful. They were far better than your average frozen potsticker. The BBQ Pork Bao was equally delicious. If you’re in Long Beach don’t miss out on this hidden gem.
