Here are a few tips if you choose to stay here: first- it’s located behind the Adrift hotel, and that’s actually where you will check-in (the Adrift lobby). They forget to mention it on any of the emails. Also- when booking your stay, if things like room service matter to you, go to the actual restaurant’s separate website and look at their current hours and what days they’re open at all and for what meals. That will be when room service is actually available. If you want the game room or Library, and the front desk attendant is on the phone; 2nd and 3rd floors if I remember correctly- but they don’t have signs up or info in the room info for that either. The rest is just me giving a nitpicking opinion. These are all tiny things we found inconvenient during our stay, that honestly if 1 or 2 I probably wouldn’t have even remembered, but they added up. Once these added up, to me, you’ve no longer got a “luxury boutique hotel” like I was expecting”; it was a decent beachfront motel. So- Bathroom: nothing but Edison bulb lighting, which was great for that relaxing feel, not so much when you want to do your makeup and can’t see anything. But the only mirror anywhere else was over the headboard. There was 1 towel hook, not a rack, just a single hook to hang 1 towel on. So we had no choice but to buy any other wet towels on the floor- which I personally don’t love. Shower was made of corrugated metal which is cool, but absolutely no shelf added or even a tiny stool; anything to put your things on other than the floor. Then again, the only place to put your bag is right in front of the fireplace, and there aren’t any drawers so you have to. Want to charge your phone/watch/pad on the night table right next to you? Well only one of you can- charge one item; two if you unplug the clock. You’ll have to plug it in by the coffee maker, where they did conveniently hide a few usb outlets. Last but not least, they seem to think of sustainability, and alternative diets in other areas of their business; but they fall short in the coffee creamer. They only leave half and half. Adding the same little containers of international delight would be non-dairy and non-nut. Remember when I said I couldn’t order breakfast? Yeah, I couldn’t have coffee either. At least not until we went out. So not on the balcony, like I was hoping for. Just, if you go, I hope my review at least helps you go in not as blind as I did, so you won’t be as...
Read moreThis had potential but there were a lot of tiny details that added up to overall make this stay feel less than worth the price. No signs tell you how to get back to the inn, then when you do find it you realize you have to go back to Adrift to check in. Check in was not very informative: no information given on grounds, how to access pool or spa or other amenities, they missed a package I added on, they programmed our room keys for the incorrect amount of time. Our room was dusty, cobwebs in corners, lots of dusty film on glass light shades, sand in bathroom, toiletries not filled, just overall looked like a hasty job. The room, however, was well designed for use of a small space. I wish there were brighter lights in the bathroom to use to get ready, but just used the mirror above the bed instead. Great size mini fridge with freezer. TV was very finicky at connecting for streaming. The balcony is a great size and very enjoyable. The French press in room was lovely, as was the tea selection and the popcorn. The room has a microwave, too. The inn is supposed to be child free, it was not. The pool has adult only hours that were not enforced - didn't bother us but it's worth mentioning. The pool area overall is lovely. Compact but comfortable. Loved the sauna. We had room service, which was speedy but arrived cold. The in room information says you can text to order: you can't. We tried, waited 15 minutes with no response, called and they had no idea what we were talking about. The room service tray sat outside our door without being picked up until we checked out 2 days later. The bed linens were lovely (besides the hole in the coverlet). The bed was VERY soft which my husband enjoyed but left me with a back ache. The spa is really not a spa. It's a couple rooms attached to the pool area, very loud with deliveries happening right outside the window. I have sensory sensitivities and almost asked to end my massage because I couldn't relax over the idling truck, banging of deliveries, and yelling of employees for 20 minutes of my massage. This was in the morning and apparently wasn't an issue in the afternoon when my husband went so keep that in mind when booking. The massage therapist, Clay, was incredible! Communicative, well trained, professional, calming, just an incredible massage therapist. Honestly, there were so many tiny issues but we still had an incredible time. Just don't expect a luxury boutique...
Read moreWe stayed at the inn for two nights and overall we had a nice stay. I'll break my review down into a list of pros, cons and final thoughts:
Pros:
-The hotel offers pet-friendly rooms, which we took advantage of. -The rooms are beautifully appointed. Very hipster looking, but also relaxing. We found the bed especially comfortable. -The shower in our room was huge with two shower heads and jets on each. Very fun, and probably the best shower I've experienced in a very long time. -There are plenty of amenities on the property including a pool, sauna, spa, restaurant, distillery and more. We enjoyed walking around the property - kinda has a McMenamins vibe to it. -Rooms offer a view of the dunes and the beach and each have their own patio. -Easy walk into town
Cons:
-While the room decor is beautiful and comfortable, the room didn't feel totally private and is rather small. Note that we were in the middle room on the first floor, so that probably didn't help. We could hear some noise above us, and cross-patio conversations as well. The rooms on the ends probably feel more private, but we tried to not make a lot of noise as a result. -I like to try and keep my hotel room as clean as possible during my stay - it's part of the fantasy! But, this room was very small and hard to keep tidy (although I did manage). There is no dresser for unpacking clothes, and only a few hangers. Pack light or get creative with how you store things in the room. -The price tag for the room is a bit high. -The beach isn't as visually interesting as many destinations along the Oregon Coast. Depending upon where you are traveling from, it might be worth your time to look at destinations south.
Overall
If you're looking for a quick weekend getaway this might be the place for you. Rooms are lovely with a relaxed vibe. That said, the rooms are a bit small, lack storage, and at least ours felt like it was lacking in privacy. The overall price for the room was a bit high, but when compared to some of the other options in town, the view, and pet-friendly aspect of the hotel the investment might be worth it for you. The town of Long Beach while cute, is on a very flat beach and lacks the visual interest of many destinations on the Oregon Coast. But, sometimes you just need a beach and some crashing waves that doesn't require a long drive. For that reason I...
