I'm a history buff and I love kites. The museum that I discovered in long beach was the ticket. We booked a hotel for the international kite festival week. And come August 2018 we were discovering how much the museum supports and helps put together. We discovered the indoor windless kite flying was miraculous and we were hooked! We just came back for the January windless kite festival that the museum helped put on. We were astounded at the flyers and the amount of collective knowledge that they were passing on to our kids. We built our own indoor kites and learned some new moves. Can't wait till next time!

Kite museum is a quick look around with large and small international kites. They have a small room of kites used during wars. It's a great place to get inspired about kites but not too big that kids would loose interest. We bought kites here. My favorite is the dragonfly. It is beautiful and was easy to fly that day. Long Beach is a wonderful place to fly a kite. The beaches are here are perfect for flying kites, long sandy beaches and wind. They usually have yearly kite festival but Covid-19 cancelled last year. Ask for senior discounts for admission into museum. They may offer AAA family discounts.

very rude experience buying kites from here. when my friend and i first came here we were told by a nice woman that the kites with yellow stickers were 75% off. the next day we came in to get more and that lady was gone and there was a different lady, dark brown hair, older. when checking out, my friend, who is poc was buying the kites and the woman was looking at me instead of my friend and only addressing me instead of my friend who was buying the kites. she asked me if i wanted the receipt even tho i was not buying. when i looked at the receipt she had applied a 10% discount instead of the 75% one. i brought it up that the woman the day before told us it was 75% discount she said i was wrong. we did not feel welcome, especially my friend. i would not come back...

Quaint, small but fun!

My family of 7 went today. It was a bit smaller than I expected but there were some interesting kites. It was neat for my kids to see the oriental kites. My little ones were especially fascinated with the giant dragons and bird ones. The war room gives you tidbits of facts. My kids really enjoyed the make your own kite room. Simple enough but it was great fun to try flying them outside the yard and the beach down the road. The important take away is that it's a unique little place. They have a nice commercial kite section for sale and a bit of knick knacks and postcards for sale. I think it was worth the $5/adult and $3/kids visit...
