Never staying here again. There are many times in your life where you may ask a question and if the other person does not know the answer, they could simply say "no". Instead they babble on to attempt to appear as they know something about what you asked because they can't answer the specific thing you asked them. AKA, the single important thing you care about. Today I asked the person bringing the breakfast out if there was any butter in the potatoes, I don't eat butter. They couldn't just say "no". I was told that the had rosemary and garlic and that there was probably some kind of oil added to them, but all they know is that they were rosemary and garlic seasoned. I asked the person if they could find out what the ingredients are, and then get back to me. The person quietly told me that all of their food comes in boxes and blah blah blah, pretty much what I heard was that it didn't matter what was in the food, it's not their problem because they just hear it up out of the box. I went to the front desk to investigate and see if I could get an answer from someone else. This is why I will never stay here again. Let me first say that I am not a person who wants to go around the same circle with another person, so I was setting her up with knowledge of situation, and I was of course upset, and you could say that I could have been even a little angry. Not hostile! When a person is upset and is trying to explain to you why or ask you a question, maybe they might sound angry if you give them the same answer of, we don't know what is in our food that we serve our guests, while interrupting that person while they are talking and treating that person like you are busy and have things to do. Go ahead and and get on the phone or go ask the first person I had already talked to to call your box precooked breakfast item provider what the ingredients are. I will never stay here again. I will not be told and accused that I was acting in a hostile manner. I am allowed to be upset. I did not point any fingers, I was not screaming, I did not use any foul language, I was not throwing anything, I was not punching anything or making any threats (physically or verbally) nor did I break anything. If you want to stay here, have fun, just don't make any complaints because they will give you a stare as if you were about to go postal and accuse you of being "hostile". Especially refrain from inquiring what the ingredients are in the food that they serve. I am a person who feels that it is my right to know what...
Read more5 for the staff. 1 or less on rooms. Its odd to have a lousy experience and rate the propery so high on customer service.
We recently stayed here for two nights during the Kite Festival. We were using reward nights to stay and we understood that there was limited availablity when we booked this hotel. Its conviently located to the beach entrance and downtowwn area for shopping and dining. The staff here was AMAZING. However the inital room(s) were terrible. When we checked in we were greeted kindly and professionally. When we got to our room and entered we were suddenly taken back by the pet odor in the room and asked if we could be moved. Normally we can deal with pet friendly locations, but this was pretty bad. It had the smell of pet urine in the carpet that bordered on the smell of ammonia. We were told that the hotel was booked and there was nothing that could be done, that possibly the next day they might be able to move us. We deicded to stay, open the window and turn on the air conditioner fan on high to air out the room. When we got back to the room late we had a wheelchair accessable shower, that upon running the shower for a few minutes flooded the entire bathroom floor with water. Seems like it was a shower suited for giving dogs a bath in it when people returned from the beach clogging it with pet hair. Not able to take a shower we asked the front desk to have us moved in the morning and soaked up the bath room floors with every towel we had. The next morning we had the BEST serivce getting us relocated to another room. By 1 pm, after a morning at the festival, our room was moved, all of our luggage transferred. The new room was better, yet the shower faucet was broken and took some tender care to use, we were afraid the valve was going to break. The room smelled "better" but the room looked like it hadnt been dusted in months and again...this is a pet friendly hotel with the typical issues it brings. Could not help feeling like the 2 night reward was more of a hassle than it was worth. My partner recieved points back on her account, but again, this was a reward stay, and these rewards are earned with frequent stays with Best Western. I wish I could recommend the rooms here based on our experience. I am sure there are better rooms on the property, yet I am not sure I would stay again to confirm. Oh, and the breakfast in nothing to write home about. The time of real food is gone with most hotel chains that offer a...
Read moreWe checked in here on the first night of our vacation, headed up to the Olympic Peninsula. I had booked & paid in advance directly through the hotel, was told we'd have a "city view" & was told it was non refundable, which was fine because we are best western members & weren't planning on canceling. When I made the reservation directly with the hotel & informed them it would be myself, my husband, & our dog. We are best western members & stay frequently throughout OR & Washington. Upon arrival the woman at the front desk was cold, & informed me that the pet fee was not charged or included in the rate that I was initially quoted & told me I could call customer service but they wouldn't be available anyway & our reservation was non refundable so I'd be charged no matter what. I called the number she gave me right then & her phone rang, when she picked up we both realized it was the hotels # she'd given me, to which she seemed irritated by me for??? I felt uncomfortable & exited to have my husband come in to handle any further interaction. My husband went in and said he'd just pay separately for the dog fee so we could check in after a long drive. Our stay was an awful experience.
A few days later we realized we'd both been charged $40 separately. Outside of this there was what appeared as fresh blood on the shower curtain & the ac in the room didn't work, making it very humid & creating an unpleasant smell. I filled out the survey sent by best western from the manager (Amber.) In her generic, response she addressed absolutely none of our concerns (including being overcharged), & simply thanked me for my review, because it will help them accommodate future guests....Wow!
My husband & I have both worked in executive, hands on hospitality management for over 20 yrs. We are easy going people who rarely complain, review or give feedback when dissatisfied, but this I feel is important to share. We joined Best Western Rewards, stayed probably 2 weeks worth of nights & still not accrued enough points to get a free night. Also something worth taking note on. There are a few smaller motels to stay at in Long Beach, it's a quaint, safe & tiny town so anything else I'm sure would be better than this experience. Please check out our "city view & shower blood photos,...
