Happy fabulous Thursday peninsula folks and beyond and cheers from your friendly neighborhood peninsula foodie! Yet another incredibly gorgeous day here at the beach and I've finally gotten in to V's Coastal Market & Deli to try something out, seeing so many amazing photos and hearing folks talk about it!
Situated on the corner of 13th and Pacific, V's is a cute little market with an amazing selection of unique and craft foods and beverages from snacks to libations that's sure to introduce you to something new and fun!
Their special today is what I rolled out with, a pastrami melt panini on marbled rye...😯 I also grabbed a bowl of their soup of the day, a creamy tomato basil concoction. The pastrami was pulled from the cooler and thin sliced right in front of me - that's how I roll! After a generous portion is sliced, it gets layered on a couple large pieces of marbled rye, adding dijon mayonnaise, swiss cheese and sauteed mushrooms then placed on the panini press.
Gooey swiss cheese mixes with the mushrooms and mayo to create a fantastic flavor bomb with every bite of pastrami! The marbled rye had a nice crunch, great flavor and stood up well to the pile of ingredients inside. Since I'm a fan of dipping sandwiches, most bites came after a dunk in that amazing creamy tomato basil soup! Full of flavor, this soup had that "fresh tomato" pop to it and was loaded with sliced basil and had a hearty base with the diced onions. I washed it all down with a sweet marionberry cream soda...oh yeah!
I wandered around the shop while I waited for my lunch to be prepared and found it very intriguing. So many cool and unique snacks and beverages! I'll be back for sure! The owners were great to chat with and they have that small town vibe inside their shop dialed in! Nice to have met the "V's" finally and sampled their fine food! If you haven't yet checked this place out you should! Great folks, great variety and incredibly amazing fresh food coming out of there! Stop in and say hi, and tell them the foodie sent ya!
Until next time, cheers and beach appetit from your friendly neighborhood peninsula...
Read moreV's is the real deal!! It's such a relief when I can take my family out to eat at a place that is conscious about quality and healthy foods. While visiting Long Beach we stopped by twice just because it was that good. They also have a great selection of natural/organic products and grocery items. If I could give these guys 10 stars for customer service I would. V's showed us a rare form of service I won't forget. Their store was the last place we stopped when we left town and I left my purse at their store. Embarrassed to say I realized a couple hours into our trip it was missing and that I left it at the store. We have two littles and a long drive so driving back wasn't my first choice. V's graciously upon my request mailed my purse to me along with a touching note and some treats. I mean who does that for another stranger nowadays?! I was blown away!! So whenever I'm back in Long Beach V's you have my...
Read moreHands down the absolute best sandwiches on the Long Beach Peninsula. Went back here multiple times on our trip because it was so good. The panini's were perfectly crispy and the flavor profiles were excellent. The cold sandwiches were also delicious and packed with meat. Love that there were vegetarian options as well. Don't sleep on the daily specials, everyone we tried was unique and incredible. We also tried a banana chocolate muffin that was superb. I found for the quality and quantity of sandwich fillings the prices were very reasonable. Also the store sells specialty type products that I don't think you can find anywhere else in Long Beach (things like harissa and preserved lemons). So if you are a foodie who likes to cook exotic cuisine definitely check them out to find more elusive ingredients. Next time I visit I will...
