I have to question a lot of the 5 star reviews on here. While the staff was very kind and helpful upon check-in and departure (5 stars for them), the hotel itself is nowhere near the 4 star rating it’s received. The most important thing you should take away from my review is that this is definitely not a hotel for kids or young families. I must’ve missed the memo but this place seems like stoner’s paradise. When I got to my room, I opened the door and it had a great scent to it, but then I noticed some of the issues, and there were a lot. First and foremost, the smoke detector in my room above my bed had been ripped out of the wall. That alone was enough for me to go to the 3rd party I booked through and discuss a refund and other accommodations with them, but that’s not where the problems stopped. My bed only had a comforter on it which was stained, no sheets underneath besides the one you lay on. Since I usually don’t pull the comforter all the way over me at night unless it’s cold, this was annoying. I went to pickup the phone to call the front desk and it didn’t work! No dial tone or anything when I picked it up so I had to call them using my cell phone. One thing that’s really annoying about these rooms is that the sink and mirror are not in the bathroom, they’re in the bedroom right next to the bed. The room itself is also quite small.
The worst part of it all came at about 5 AM: people walking loudly in the room above mine. I was on the first floor and I could hear every step they took. I have no idea how people sleep through that without earplugs, but these rooms need to be soundproofed. I could also hear a cell phone buzzing from what sounded like the room next to me. That was enough for me to sound off to the guy at the front desk, who was actually very nice and helpful with me. Again, if there’s one good thing about this hotel it seems to be the staff. I had some things to do during the day so I took the bags out of my room and checked them with the staff member who put them in a locker. I got a full refund on the room due to the safety issue of not having a smoke detector and I booked the Loews in Hollywood which happened to be less than the $300 a night rate for my room at Palihotel and was MUCH nicer. Loews is truly a 4 or 5-star hotel experience. When I went to retrieve my bags to move them to Loews, I was met by a group of really nice guys outside, but they were all smoking their own joints in and outside of the car. Every time you walk outside of this hotel you’re met with the smell of cannabis, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing if that’s mainly what you want to do during your vacation, but it’s not what I was looking for and this place just did not meet my standards as far as the actual room quality. Stay here at...
Read moreWe recently stayed at this hotel for 8 nights during a business trip, and unfortunately, our experience was far below expectations for the price and hotel category.
The problems started with the room itself. Both of our rooms had windows that opened directly into the main hallway between the lobby and the rooms. This meant we had absolutely no natural light and could not open the curtains for the entire stay. Our reservation simply stated "Standard Room" with no mention of these being "Night Owl Rooms," as the manager called them. After a discussion, we managed to upgrade the rooms at an extra cost billed to our booking agent, but this should have been communicated much more transparently from the start. Otherwise the whole design of the rooms and our new upgraded rooms were totally great along with the whole vibe of the hotel .
Housekeeping was another major issue. On the third day, we realized our rooms had not been cleaned at all. We were informed that housekeeping was “on request” only and that guests needed to be put on a daily cleaning list. Even after registering for the list, the cleaning remained inconsistent: one day one room was cleaned, while the other wasn’t, and vice versa. On top of that, when cleaning was done, it was at a very basic level — bins not always emptied, minimal tidying.
Throughout our stay, it became quite obvious that the hotel was significantly understaffed, and that there was poor communication between shifts, which led to these repeated service failures.
Another unacceptable issue was access to drinking water. The hotel provided a limited number of bottled water (still and sparkling) at $7 per bottle. Once we finished those, we were simply told they had run out of stock and could not provide any more for the rest of our stay. Despite repeated requests and promises that it would be restocked, nothing was ever delivered to our rooms. On several nights, we had to order bottled water ourselves via delivery apps just to have drinking water in the room. For a hotel charging $250 per night, not being able to provide basic water supply is simply not acceptable.
I fully understand that every hotel can have occasional disruptions. However, what made this experience frustrating was the accumulation of issues and the clear lack of proper service organization and staffing. When guests pay premium prices, they expect a minimum standard of service and basic comfort, which unfortunately this hotel...
Read moreThis is the second time I’ve been here and stayed for a whole week and I was surprised about the decline in quality.
Let’s start with the service: There’s been a huge staff turnover and you notice it in everything. When I arrived, I found a bra in my room and when I notified the staff I just got an: “oh sorry” and nothing to compensate me, not even offered a free drink.
On one of the mornings there was no barista so you couldn’t order coffee, the next day they were out of milk at 8 am. You used to be able to order food and drinks at the pool and now no one came to get your order. Also dirty dishes weren’t really picked up form the pool so they would stay there for hours.
They have a cocktail menu but they didn’t serve any of them apart from the easy to make ones. The guy behind the bar ignored us when we wanted to order and then helped us in the strangest way. He is probably a good guy but in no way shape or form suitable to work at a bar.
When I stayed there in November 2023, they had amazing tacos. And this time they just weren’t great.
The rooms are very noisy. We could hear the neighbor snore. To be super honest, I knew about the thin walls and came back anyway because i just loved the whole ambiance of the hotel and was sitting at the pool most of the time. But the ambiance was not the same this time around.
Also, they say, a $100 a day is being reserved on your credit card. But they actually took $300 a day so my credit card was maxed out fairly quickly. (It’s not as easy to get a credit card in Europe) so that got me in trouble for the rest of my trip as I couldn’t pay for stuff elsewhere.
This hotel has the potential to be GREAT! It’s beautifully decorated. Music choice is on point. The idea of the food and drinks is really cool. It smells great! You just really need better staff, that’s all. Another positive thing I can say: end of 2023 the location felt a little sketchy with all the homeless people around the hotel. Even walking to the 711 an across the street felt a little unsafe then but this time the streets were all cleaned up and we could go for a walk, even at night!...
