I visited this place with my daughter two years ago, and everything went really well—the service and food were excellent. I even had a great conversation with the owner, who had an amazing personality.
Today, I returned for breakfast with my 6-year-old daughter, and unfortunately, it was a drastically different experience. The restaurant wasn’t very busy, and I truly respect the service industry, so I usually let small things slide. However, the breakfast potatoes came out cold and soggy, and the omelet was both small and cold as well.
The service was not attentive. Basic items like salt, pepper, and sugar for the coffee weren’t brought out until halfway through the meal. I had to ask for a coffee refill—otherwise, it wouldn’t have happened.
I ordered an apple juice for my daughter, and it was served warm, without ice. Serving sparkling warm apple juice during the summer just didn’t make sense to me.
I’m a laid-back, drama-free person, so I didn’t make a fuss at the time. I don’t want to play the race card, but the overall vibe felt off. As a biracial man, I’ve experienced this kind of energy before, sadly. There was also a young Black couple sitting next to us who were about to order but decided to leave—They mentioned to me they sensed something off too.
This review isn't to get anyone in trouble—just honest feedback in the hope that things improve for future guests. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning, which is disappointing because I really expected more from a place I once...
Read moreAptly named attitude, unfortunately.
Gorgeously decorated cafe with very cute decor, pop music, and even a pool outside. Menu was straightforward with standard breakfast, brunch, and lunch fare. This was the extent of our positive experience.
We were interested in the French toasts. Our waitress informed us that the tres leches flavor was NOT as sweet as the banana foster, which I was skeptical about since tres leches cakes are usually sweet. Despite my instincts, I trusted her and ordered it. Additionally, my partners meal came out in almost 5 minutes but the kitchen had completely forgotten my order. Due to his toast getting cold, I encouraged him to eat first. Another waitress had to come by our table and rushed over to the kitchen to get it - nearly 30 min later. When I finally got it, the tres leches toast was well presented, but the thing was a sugar bomb. Massively sickeningly sweet, which I did NOT want.
Our first and original waitress came over with the check, when I informed her I didn’t like the tres leches toast she just replied: “Oh sorry to hear” and immediately gave the check to my husband without waiting to hear more.
My partner and I both used to work in food service, so to experience this kind of dismissive attitude was disappointing. We still paid and tipped her because we know how food servers depend on tips, but wanted to warn future customers of a potential disappointment if you choose to come here. Sorry to say, we won’t be...
Read moreWe were visiting for a weekend of fun and Squid Games and were looking for a breakfast spot close to the Squid Games studio, and saw this place had good reviews. I was especially excited to try the smoked salmon benedict (which I ordered) because it really looked good in the photos. We were seated immediately upon entering the premises. The place wasn't busy yet when we arrived, but more customers started to trickle in. Service in the beginning was good, but as the place got busier, it was non-existent. The lady who checked us out (probably the manager or owner) told us that they were short 3 people that morning, so okay.
The food was really good, which is the only reason this place gets 4-stars for me. Like I said, I had the smoked salmon benedict which was excellent. I didn't like how you have to pay $3 more to get sides, and when I asked for fruit, they didn't have it. I overheard a server also telling another table that they didn't have the ingredients to make a mocha latte. Hmm. The wife got the bananas foster french toast, which was divine. I actually ate my whole plate of salmon benedict plus a whole slice of her french toast. It was THAT good.
Maybe on a fully staffed and fully stocked day, I'd give this...
