I came to this place and asked if it was ok for me to eat my food from a different place and order from the Thai place menu as well. The lady that received me said it was fine. So I sat outside and ordered a drink. I took out the food i had brought, and shortly after a server shows up and asks if I was ready to order. She had somewhat of an attitude but I brushed it off and told her I had ordered a drink and also needed water. Time passes and I ask for another round of their Thai tea and when the server came back she said that no outside food was allowed. I told her that I had asked as soon as I came into the restaurant and her coworker said it was fine. She just repeated what she said before and walks away. Her coworker came to give me my bill and starts telling me that no food is allowed. I remind her that it was she who told me I could bring outside food into the establishment and she said that she thought I was going to order food...”I ordered two drinks from the menu”, I said to her but she said that she’s just passing on the message from the other server. I’d like to point out there’s no sign that indicates no outside food is allowed. Because of the miscommunication between the people that work there, and the bad customer service I received today I won’t be...

Michelin reviewed! I was pleasantly surprised that I stumbled over this place with my boo. They have a small parking lot that can hold a few cars, but mostly street parking. The service was super friendly and professional. They have an indoor and outdoor area for seating.

The Thai food here is very refined and executed very well. They balance a lot of the flavors so it can seem a bit subtle compared to other Thai restaurants that you may have visited. Presentation and flavors are very clean!

For appetizers, we got the Papaya Salad and White Sticky Rice. The Papaya Salad was very healthy and had a subdued saltiness that is different than what I'm used to. Still good though, but more balanced. It paired well with some White Sticky Rice and had a nice crunch from the cabbage.

The Thai Beef Stew was amazing! The broth was so pure and clean! Super yummy and extremely tasty. The cuts of beef were plentiful, but had some cartilage fiber that may not be as palatable to some. I enjoyed it thoroughly though. It came with White Jasmine Rice which was perfect.

The Khao Soi was bomb too! Super creamy and well made. Large pieces of chicken and plenty of noods! Always an excellent dish that more people need to know about!

All in all, def one of my favorite Thai eats in...

Ever since I saw the sign for The Thai Thing go up earlier this year I have been waiting to try it. I love Thai food and to have a Thai place right across the street from me is more than I could ever ask for.

I waited 3 visits before reviewing so I could get a true sense of the restaurant, especially as I plan on being a regular! A lot of the reviews on here have noted that the service during busy periods is quite slow even non-existent, taking almost forty minutes in some cases to receive meals etc. On my first two visits I did experience the service issues but when I came in for dinner last night I was seated and had my order taken in under ten minutes so perhaps they are getting this under control. It is a brand new restaurant so some growing pains are to be expected.

So far I have tried: egg rolls, yellow curry, the hidden gem curry and the pad see ew. I'm a big fan of their curries! They are super flavourful, the way a Thai curry should be. Yes, you do have to order rice as a side but I'm okay with that. The Thai coffee is delicious and the egg rolls are pretty bomb as well. I especially love that I can bring my dog and sit on the patio, that makes it an even more attractive place to dine.

This is definitely going to be a regular...

The Thai Thing: meh, with a side of meh. We chose this spot to support a local business and have a quiet place to talk. They let us sit outside, which I appreciated, but the service soured the whole visit. The staff felt reluctant, cold, almost like our presence was a bother. Even when asking for change to leave a cash tip, the attitude was unwelcoming. I was ready to order more, but instead I cut the meal short. With food that hovers around average and service that pushes you out the door, I cannot recommend a return. Food: Chicken Wings + Papaya Salad - The chicken wings were five pieces, three flats and two drums, with that extra joint still attached. Not the best deal size-wise, but the wings themselves were tasty. The sauce they came coated in was the highlight, rich and flavorful, though the tangy side sauce fell flat. The papaya salad, ordered mild, was even more disappointing. No other flavors, garlic, no balance, just a pile of bland crunch without character. Verdict: Charisma 4. Uniqueness 3. Nerve 3. Talent 4.

the thai thing is one of favorites in LA! i quite literally stop here or order out everytime i am in town! the pad see ew and the larb salad (chicken) are two of my favorites on the menu. both of these are packed with flavor. the pad see ew is probably my favorite due to the sweetness of the sauce and the freshness of the noodles/beef. the tom yum soup w/shrimp is also one of my favorites as it is incredibly flavorful, fresh, and filling. i tried the fried crispy creamy lime chicken and would rate that 7.5/10! the sauce was delicious and the chicken was crispy yet light. for dessert i had the roti with ice cream and that was 10/10! the flakiness of the roti and the sweetness of both combined was such a treat. 20/10 recommend this place!
