I’ve gone to this place for 8 years and it’s gone from my absolute favorite spots on this side of town to absolute trash. I’ve put off writing a review because I wanted to give it the benefit of doubt but between the rude workers and the bland food I will most likely never go back. No matter how friendly you are as an ENGLISH speaker if you don’t speak to the weekend staff mainly Saturday staff (the all women staff) they will NOT EVEN SAY HI it’s happened 3 times and this time I felt really wanted to cancel my order but was paid for online. The weekday staff (males) are friendly.
The food … ugh how can you go wrong with eggs and beans … it’s so bland no taste you shouldn’t have to come home and add all kinds of condiments to even be worthy of eating, that’s breakfast. Their Asada is GROSS!!! it’s all fat and will upset your stomach - so be ready to be on the toilet the whole next morning The chicken taste boiled and tasteless .
They will only give 2 salsas a red & green and if you ask for more it’s like you asking for a kidney ….
They used to give chips (free) when u got a burrito but apparently not no more or maybe they pick and choose who they give them too.
Now the biggest issue THE PRICES !! mind you I’ve been coming here for 8 years so of course with inflation prices rise but they have raised their prices like 8 times …. The quality of food is NOT worth it .
Hours … they don’t even stay open late their hours on the window are a lie I’ve gone several times within business hours in the late night and they close early and are just standing in there looking at me like I’m crazy and refuse to open the door
Save your money ! Don’t go here unless your absolutely desperate and them comment the next day and let me know I was right
Your better off going to...
Read moreAs a trained chef and LA Foodie, I’m extremely critical of any food I consume. While I can easily eat anywhere, I’d rather find that hidden gem that isn’t necessarily found in some high end restaurant. Going to any restaurant that has items they do exceptionally well makes it worth the experience. Benito’s is one of those places. The menu is limited, but their shining stars are the rolled tacos and their burritos. Out of principle, I refused to “overpay” for the street tacos, since those are available ANYWHERE in LA for under $2.50. As to the rolled tacos: they were perfectly filled, deep fried and topped with lettuce, guacamole and cheese. Smother this deliciousness with a mixture of their green and red salsa…winner winner, taco dinner! It’s really filling! As to the burritos: all super filled with a variety of very well seasoned meat (Sonoran style), so naturally expect the meat to taste as though it came right off the charcoal grill. But their bean and cheese burrito, a simple burrito, was absolutely delicious and was worth ordering it. Currently, their hours of operation, fluctuate, so call ahead....

Update: June 29, 2019 Rate: 1/5 I came here to get the Carne Asada fries I craved and I was left disappointed. The whole meal didn't taste that good. When I ordered it was ready within 7 minutes which was different. Usually it took 15 minutes for the meal to be hot and cooked fully to deliciousness, but there was no spark. The fries weren't fully cooked, it had raw potatoes in the middle, the sour cream that was on top tasted 'ehh', couldn't even taste the guacamole that was on it and the asada was too much and had many burnt pieces. Honestly the meal was extremely saddening. One of my favorite carne asada fries meal is now disgusting and I won't be back.
