YAAAAASSS! I was looking for a good coffee shop in Little Tokyo, and I found it in Cafe Dulce.
Coffee-wise, they offer espresso, macchiato, cappuccino, americano, latte, mocha, 18-hour cold brew, and Vietnamese iced coffee. They also have a matcha menu with matcha latte, blueberry matcha latte, cha cha matcha, and matcha lemonade. Furthermore, they have hot tea lattes ($4.75) like milk tea latte, gen mai latte, jasmine tea latte, masala chai latte, earl grey latte, and rose milk tea latte. They also have hot tea options like earl grey, pineapple-papaya, and jasmine, as well as iced tea.
In addition, Cafe Dulce serves a variety of sandwiches and salads. They also have an extensive list of sweets: mocha roti, green tea roti, pumpkin spice roti, dino churro, green tea brick toast, green tea donut, maple macadamia donut, Fruity Pebble donut hole, etc.
I ordered a blueberry matcha latte and my BF ordered the matcha lemonade. They make the drinks at the coffee bar, which you can then pick up. The blueberry matcha latte is magical. The blueberry is very subtle but I really like how it pairs so well with the matcha. Highly, highly recommend if you're a matcha lover like myself! The matcha lemonade was also really good. If you're not much of a coffee person, the matcha lemonade is a great alternative.
Cafe Dulce is super kawaii and fits well with the rest of the shops in the Japanese Village Center. I definitely envision myself coming back here on future trips to the...
Read moreI was really looking forward to trying this cafe, but unfortunately the service was horrible. The cashier knowingly overcharged us for one of our drinks and didn’t offer to make it right. My boyfriend had ordered a London Fog, and he asked the cashier if it had vanilla. The cashier said no, so my boyfriend paid extra to have vanilla added. After we finished paying, we overheard the barista come up to the cashier and say, “The London Fog already has vanilla.” The cashier only said, “Oh, okay,” and when the barista asked if he was going to do anything about it, the cashier said no. While my boyfriend only paid 75 cents extra for the syrup, it’s the lack of integrity on the cashier’s part that really bothered us the most.
Our drinks (London Fog and Hong Kong Milk Tea) and food (Matcha Roti and Snowcap Roti) were fine—I have no complaints about the flavor or anything like that. The Hong Kong Milk Tea was slightly sweet, which I enjoyed, and the same goes for the roti.
However, overhearing that interaction has made me not want to return to this cafe. Even though the cafe was busy, the cashier should have at least offered to make it right. Like I said, we don’t care about the cost, but it’s just a matter of principle for us. We would’ve told him we didn’t need a refund anyway, but he didn’t even bother to tell us. To me, this is a seriously concerning issue, and I hope that management can work with the employees to keep this from happening to other guests...
Read moreDonuts are fresh at 11am, that's the tip that I got from the super duper friendly cashier girl. I like her bubbliness. So whoever you are, good job for making me happy too. I came on a late Thursday night. When drinks were running slow, she made sure that those waiting didn't feel ignored. There's a good deal of selection here if you like donuts and dessert. I opted to try at least a latte as well since this is a cafe after all. Seating is pretty limited. There are tables outside but on a cold night you don't wanna be out there. There's an internet password, so just ask the barista.
-=-Dulce Latte-=- This and the regular latte are pretty similar, but the Dulce Latte is so much sweeter. Regular latte drinkers would probably not like this as much since the froth didn't give that enlightening taste that only froth lovers would know.
-=-Bacon Maple Donut-=- I had to get one of these because it was my first draw here from what others have mentioned to me. The dabs of bacon sweetened with maple syrup really does make for a great dessert flavoring. I would have probably enjoyed this more if it were hotter, but well, it was like fifty something degrees outside.
-=-Fruity Pebbles Donut Hole-=- I actually preferred this to the Bacon Maple Donut. Funny how that comes out of my mouth. It this case, the Fruity Pebbles Donut hole wasn't as sweet tasting as the Bacon Maple Donut. Me being a non-sweets person, I...
