Well Dairy Queen... your advertising worked. After seeing a recent DQ ad on television, I remarked to my wife that I hadn't been to a Dairy Queen in AGES! She mentioned that she loved getting Heath Bar blizzards with her Mom and hadn't had one in forever. The next day (which happened to be the day before Mother's Day) my wife had some work she had to do and I needed to get our toddler out of the house for a little bit. So I thought it'd be nice to surprise my wife with a Heath Bar Blizzard. Around here, DQ's are hard to find, and the closest one was the Dairy Queen/Orange Julius combo in the Northridge Mall. But this was special... so we made the trip.
We needed to give my wife the proper amount of time, so I decided to eat there with my son and buy my wife's blizzard after we were done so it didn't melt. This store has a bit of seating, but not much. Very crappy ambiance in there. But there is ample seating just outside in the mall, which was fine. I ordered a blizzard which was okay. Not what I remembered. My son had a Misty Slush which he loved. It all went fine.
Then... I go back in to order my wife's blizzard and... their credit card machine had stopped working!!! Really? They have one? I had no cash on me, and they said they wanted to try it, took my order... MADE my order and then couldn't get it to work. So because it was on the side of DQ that prevented me from getting what I made this whole trip out to get, AND I had already successfully bought two items, did they give me the already made Blizzard on the house? NO!!! They opted to let it go to waste instead of making the correct customer service decision and just give me the blizzard. Come on now... That's crazy.
I'm struggling to figure out what to rate this, as pre-this experience it was 3 stars. Post it was ZERO stars (as how can you give stars to a business that literally won't allow you to enjoy their product when you're willing to pay with proper payment)... so I'm giving it 2 stars. Really it should be 1.
The staff prior to this event was pretty good. There were three women working. Two of the three of them were pretty business like, but the third really appeared to enjoy her job. She was making a banana split for someone and really seemed to take pride and care in creating something she knew would be enjoyed. She was all smiles when she handed it over, and it was a nice moment. She wasn't the one who denied me my blizzard. Don't get me wrong... I don't expect them to make one for me if they know the credit card machine is down and I don't have a way to pay... but if it is ALREADY made and going to be thrown away......
Read moreWORST DQ EVER. I know everybody seems to be having the same experience here, but I had to chime in too. The service here has been consistently terrible. RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. I have tried several times now, and only once gotten what I ordered, but they charged me DOUBLE. Now let me be clear, I've ordered the exact same blizzard at DQs all around the US, and never had a problem, EXCEPT here. Same as other people, I was told the ice cream machine wasn't working after I watched another customer walk out with dipped cone. There were no other customers... So it's not like it was "too busy" to make a blizzard. But I left and happened to walk by again about a couple hours later... The person I had dealt with was nowhere to be seen, so I tried again and another employee started making it, no problem... Then the other person came back from break and said, "No... Stop. We don't do that." and stopped them. I asked why, and they said, "ok fine," and insisted on ringing me up, and charged me DOUBLE! (Their prices are already way higher than other DQs). It was ridiculous.
I won't be back to...
Read moreJust went there because of the new Jurassic World promotion and ordered the Jurassic Smash Blizzard. I can honestly say they had the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I had been to a previous Dairy Queen in San Diego who was kind enough to sell me some empty Jurassic World cups for 25 cents each. They didn't have all the cups but said I could try another Dairy Queen so I went here. Big mistake. The lady that worked here refused to sell me the cups without buying the drink. Okay. The cups themselves cost a few cents to manufacture but whatever. Instead I had to deal with attitude and rude remarks from this worker while my sister in law got her order during the remainder of my visit. Needless to say, their cheapness cost them a customer. I hope saving a few cents on the stupid cups was worth the loss of a customer. I will share this experience with everyone on Facebook and come in contact with regarding the horrible customer service at the Dairy Queen at the Northridge...
