This review is regarding service on June 28, 2022. I truly don't know where to begin but I will say this: I did not enjoy the experience.
Ambience: We went during brunch hours. There weren't many people dining so we felt a bit more comfortable dining in (considering the rise of COVID cases at the time). We were seated fairly quickly. Overall, it was a quiet, slow and chill ambience.
Service: Attentive but still slightly aloof. Every server is different and has to gauge customers. Our party felt the server could be a bit more attentive to return to our table more often but we understand how some servers may feel some parties prefer to be left alone. The service was very basic and no real issues.
Food: Nope. A whole lot of NOPE and NOPE again. Later that day, I was sick as a pregnant woman in her 1st trimester. That was the ONLY food I had until dinner and I lived on the toilet for the majority of the day. The whole grain pancakes were not the business and I've had them before at another location. It felt very haphazardly thrown together instead of mixed throughly. The granola or oat crumbles were in the center of the pancake so it crunched and some parts were gummy. Pancakes shouldn't crunch. My eggs crunched a bit and I didn't finish them; the hashbrowns were slightly greasier than expected; and the apple juice was SYRUP CONCENTRATE. We order apple juice for our son but found out why he kept pawing at it before his food arrived. I took a sip and realized it was concentrate without enough water. I mixed it in all our water cups and we were able to share apple juice with the entire party. Mishaps happen, so be it. It's not a big deal but it's disappointing.
Parking: validate at Denny's for the shared parking structure for Ralph's. No biggie.
Why two stars? While we were there, there was a STRONG whiff of defection from somewhere in the restaurant. We were seated close to the Oxford entrance, which is closer to the bathroom than the Wilshire entrance. We were midway through our meal and it hit us. At first we thought it was a soiled diaper or someone passed gas but no.it.was.not. The scent lingered and people were coming in and out of the bathrooms but the smell was hovering the air and it was a COMPLETE turnoff . They could've just put our table over a toilet it was so strong. So 2 stars. You can't enjoy the experience if the place smells like a horrendous foul canned fart. You know that type of smell where someone has smeared poop on the walls or floors and it stays in the air? THAT kind of funk. Do I blame the service staff? Not really. It just wasn't a...
Read moreIt is with regret I must post this negative review about Denny’s on Wilshire since all the other staff did everything right especially the night shift server. I patronize this Denny’s an average of 3 times a week and other than the homeless and the restaurant being closed once in awhile I usually only have positive experiences dining at this location. Additionally, I worked for a firm contracted in 1993 to do consulting for them. So you can see I am a huge supporter of the company. However, this morning around 6:03 a day shift server arrived for work and everything appeared to go south in the restaurant. Since the night shift server was extremely busy she asked the day shift sever if she could take the order for the customer sitting next to me. After taking the order I pointed to my untouched pancakes and hash browns and asked for a box a to-go box and she reached up and hand me a small box. Since the pancakes wouldn’t fit into the box I asked for a larger box. It was at that point she displayed an attitude and replied in a rude manner, “I’m too busy” The night shift server heard her response and immediately came over and hand me a larger box. As a loyal customer I do not feel I should be treated the way the server displayed. Since the appear not professional enough to serve customers, I suggest you have her work with the night shift sever to observe the importance of having “people skills”. Since it is Saturday morning I can only conclude maybe the server had a bad Friday night and brought her disappointments and...
Read moreVisited this location a couple of days ago. The experience was a disappointment. Starting at the hostess desk, you wait and wait and it seems as they do not care because they keep you waiting. They see you standing there and do not bother saying anything to you. Finally until they see a small crowd of people waiting to be sat they come and acknowledge you.
We got sat after a long wait and finally being acknowledged. After being sat we waited again for someone to take our order and no one came. We waived down one of the employees and he said that someone would be with us. We waited again and no one came so we waived down another employee. She told us that the section we were sitting in was closed off that is why no one came and took our order. She asked us if we sat ourselves, which we did not, we were sat by an employee. This gives insight to the lack of organization and communication of this location. We waited again and finally our order was taken.
The food took a while, when it finally came out the waitress just left everything at the table and never checked up on us. I wanted to ask for condiments to accompany my sandwich however since she never came I just ate as is.
When the bill was brought, I got up and went to pay at the front however it was a long wait for me to be acknowledged and rung up. Two employees saw me standing there. One said nothing, the other said she would be right with me however she finally came after 20 minutes. It seems like this placed needs better organization and...
