The lady this morning was very very rude (March 21, 2019 @4:20 am).
The way she talked to me was like a child.
Not even my own mother RIP would talk to me in such a way.
I come there to pick up food and deliver, not to be talked down to like one is a child simply because their too lazy to look at the order number of my phone.
Sadly, and this is a known and honest fact, many older Korean people treat brown and Hispanic people very low and talk down to them. This has always been a problem in Los Angeles, not just at restaurants, but also in the work force.
A few of the other women are very very nice, and very polite, but this one who was working this morning (March 21, 2019 @4:20 am) made me almost decide not to pick up from there anymore as a way to make a statement that every human being should be treated with respect, especially people who are spending money and providing a service.
When I got to the customer to deliver the food they asked me how am I doing, and I told them that the lady at the restaurant was very rude and that I didn't like that and yes, the customer could tell that my spirit was not happy at all.
He seemed bothered by that and honestly, he should. Everyone wants to have a smooth transaction, from the food being prepared, the interaction with the person delivering the food, and the final delivery of the food to the customer.
This is very important, and I hope that this review is well seen and used as a tool to enable them to provide better customer service.
I hate writing reviews like this, but sometimes it's the only way, without getting angry in the establishment and making a scene for people to see.
It just sucks how some people are treated low or down by various cultures (i.e. all the Hispanics that work for Koreans and Persians in downtown Los Angeles) as an example. The way she talked to me was the same way that a lot of Korean and Persian business owners in downtown Los Angeles in the fashion district talk down to their own Hispanic employees, who most don't have legal documentation to work in the U.S.
That's why I never saw not one African American, or Caucasian working for any of those businesses, simply because they will not tolerate being talked down to in the same way the lady at the restaurant talked down to me this morning, and on top of that, I'm British, so you DEFINITELY know that THAT will not fly with me because of the values of my country and the values and respect that we as a culture value and praise deeply (British culture).
I just hope that one day this changes with the...
ย ย ย Read moreThe food was fine. I enjoyed everything. The lady did not understand what I asked for and only brought us one soup instead of two, which I found funny. They brought us one rice and one set of their starting foods, and I didn't understand why we only got one until I realized the second soup was never coming. The waitress was no problem except the fact that she was never there. I never really eat Korean food and I was not sure if the things they brought us were for the soup or if I should eat them first. I think I would open a Korean restaurant with American customer service. Make suggestions and explain the foods and varieties and explain what they come with and how people usually go about eating it in combination with other foods. Make it more fun and like an adventure. I think going to eat foreign foods should be like stepping off an airplane and traveling to another country. But it was good. I had no problems with my ginger chicken soup. I would eat there again but I found the behavior of the waitress kind of funny and not personal at all. As an American eater you kind of like being pampered to I think and having some attention paid to you. I would have loved it if the waitress spoke more English and was more involved in our dining experience since I felt so strange and...
ย ย ย Read moreComing here is like coming home for me. It's always open. The same sweet korean ladies are always there. And they spoil me with all the side dishes and umma-like service.
Best korean potato salad I've had. Hands down. When I went to NY for a summer, I kept dreaming about Hodori and eating that potato salad again. The rest of their side dishes are pretty bomb as well.
I recommend their chicken noodle soup with knife cut noodles when it's a cold day. The soup is umami-filled and the noodles are thick, which I don't really like but it was an authentic feel to it. I've also tried their bibimbap which is okay as well. The dish I get 75% of the time is the bibimnaengmyun. Something about the sauce here keeps me coming back. Before, I wouldn't be able to eat it without having a liter of milk next to me (as it was SO spicy). But recently, they dumbed down the spicyness, allowing me to actually eat it at the restaurant without dying! Their portions are huge as well. I swear the bowl of noodles are at least a pound!
If it's your bday, they'll dim down the entire restaurant and play the "heppy birfday" song and come out and present you with dumplings!
Oh and if you order to go, they give you side dishes as well :O I...
