Let me start off by saying the food was delicious. However, for the price you can get just as superb food with much better atmosphere and service. I would not recommend this place.
They only provided water even though they promised a nonalcoholic cocktail that we were told we could bring spirits to mix into. Upon asking at the end of the meal, their excuse was that the head chef was out. So they could make an entire meal without the head chef but not a premixed cocktail? We ended up taking shots of our tequila instead of having a cocktail to mix it into. They could’ve even just offered some juice concoction instead of literally nothing.
The food was good but does not look like the pictures shown. It is family style so piles of food are served on platters. That’s fine, but the photos here are extremely misleading.
The experience was a bit unorganized and not optimized. There was a host fiddling trying to play videos on an iPad before the course was served but the audio was poor (in an echoey concrete loft) and the screen was tiny. Would’ve just preferred an intimate setting where they explained the food instead of trying to achieve (and missing the mark on) theater. Then the chefs were late serving food so on the last course the host basically rushed us out so their next seating could come in, so we scarfed down our dessert then had to catch up with friends outside in the cold instead of over the promised cocktail.
The space was small but I expected a smaller table for an intimate setting instead of two huge tables squeezed into as much space as possible, maximizing profits but leaving no logistical room to get to the bathroom or for the servers to remove plates except reaching through other seated patrons.
Ultimately I’m giving 2 stars for the taste of the food but for the price I paid, I left feeling let down and would not recommend. Better to spend your money at a fine dining establishment for better marks on...
Read moreIle is home was an amazing experience. My husband took me there for date night during our trip to LA and it was everything and more. As a Nigerian, I was a little skeptical initially but I love to find African food and support whenever I can. And I’m so glad we did. First of all, Chef David was really cool. He curated an amazing vibe that felt very homie and exclusive at the same time. All the food was excellent. Their twist on Nigerian food was something I didn’t know I needed in my life. Now I have to have it again. The Ewa salad was everything, and so was the Unity jollof. Like I’m coming back for more. And dessert was just the icing on top. We also learned alot about West African culture and they told amazing stories. Overall it was a wonderful experience. Probably the best experiential date night we’ve gone on. If you’re in LA you must do this 10/10...
Read moreI booked ILE dining family style experience for my partner's birthday and we LOVED the whole experience from start to finish. We were a group of 7, we sat family style, which meant others at a large table BUT we were sat around the table with our own group. The food was exceptional and I have had the privilege of dining at many a Michelin star restaurant, this was up there with them. Each course was accompanied by a brief but informative description. The food flavors, presentation was amazing. The love and positivity demonstrated by the Kitchen staff for the food they cook and serve was palatable and inspiring. My advice to anyone reading this review and thinking of going to ILE is GO, book, enjoy, feast!!!! Thank to everyone at ILE for making the evening a lovely, fun filled delicious experience, we will be...
