EDIT:
A lot of businesses future success will be determined by their actions towards their employees and their customers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately for myself and family, we won't be returning to La Carrreta's after our visit today. Many restaurants have setup outdoor seating to accommodate people, drive business, and to give some sense of normalcy back to the experience part of dining out and La Carreta's is no different. Many of those restaurants understand that creating an awesome experience will ensure that they survive COVID-19. I had three items that seemed very penny smart, and dollar foolish. First, you were given a bag of chips with a cup of salsa with every order. As I had ordered the queso, I expected to get another bag of chips which was not the case. It was $2.73 for another bag. Had we been dining inside the restaurant, we would have been given more chips than we could have eaten as they just continue to bring them. Second, the price of drinks was definitely raised to $3. I understand covering the cost of the "to go" necessities but $3 for a regular sized cup? Ok, I get it. Lastly, and the part that drove me to update my initial review here. There were NO refills on drinks. Even for those sitting at the tables they had setup to drive more business. We have been to 4 different restaurants where we sat outside and all but La Caretta's were doing as much as they could to bring normalcy to their guests during such a wild time for most. It wasn't one, or two of the items above that led me to updating my review but the combination of all three that really disappointed me during this experience. Two stars you then ask? Yes, because they hit the almighty trifecta for restaurant restrooms in that, they had hot water, soap, and paper towels without the need to ask for any.
ORIGINAL: Taco Tuesday! The food is always great from the Pastor tacos to the fajitas. The waitress was not really engaging and was just...
Read moreI am writing this review on behalf of my elderly grandparents --specifically, my grandmother. My grandparents went to La Caretta on Thursday, April 8, 2021, around mid-afternoon or 4 pm. Upon sitting down, my grandmother noticed that her menu had a smashed bug on it. Being concerned about the restaurant’s cleanliness, especially considering Covid-19 and how elderly people are more susceptible to contracting this virus, she asked the waiter if they cleaned their menus in between each customer. He was immediately VERY hostile and angry and said how dare she?! He called her very rude and mean and DEMANDED that she apologize to him. He was furious, extremely annoyed, angry, indignant, antagonistic, and RUDE. They felt so unnerved and stressed at his hostility that they moved to a different table and only ordered guacamole and chips as they no longer felt they could enjoy a full meal. I feel very upset to have heard about this treatment towards her especially as we’ve always enjoyed this restaurant in the past. I truly don’t know if I will be a customer any longer given how HORRIBLY this waiter treated my grandmother. To hopefully help identify the waiter who gave this terrible, terrible customer service, here is information she provided to me: he is tall, skinny/thin, fair-skinned, light hair, might have had a crew cut, had an accent, and may have been a host as well (he was by the front desk a lot). A manager or other staff member reading this may also use other information above (date, approximate time, etc.) to review camera recordings (if the restaurant has cameras). I sincerely hope that this incident is addressed especially as it greatly damages the restaurant’s reputation. We are extremely disappointed about this experience and will likely not revisit La Carreta anytime soon...
Read moreDefinitely have heard people mention carretas when tacos or Mexican come up. So taco Tuesday I decided to give it a go after work.
I will say parking at this locations a bit of a menace since the entry way is opposite the flow of traffic( the exit is first and the entry way is after) plus parkings kinda limited and tight.
Other than that all the food I had for the most part was excellent. The queso is definitely awesome prob second best queso after Covington The blind tiger (permanently closed). Pairs well with the complementary chips you get. Like at habaneros.... However I think the salsa is definitely better at habaneros plus they give bean dip complementary as well.
However the tacos here are much much better than habaneros. The queso birras were excellent. The side it came with no so Much. The bacon tacos with the spicy mayo were also excellent but the side they came with was alot better.
Should be noted carettas does a taco Tuesday with 2$ tacos however it's not clear which ones are 2$ or what it entails... As the font menu only mentions taco Tuesday but not what's involved. The website is the one that list 2$ I could be wrong but I believe those are the ones under the lunch menu side #13 and not the fish taco ones. Should definitely be clearer bc nothings worse in ordering something u thinks alot cheaper and get served with a higher bill.
The atmosphere here is not as nice as habaneros which had a more laid back vibe with lighting and music. Plus I think the Staff there is friendlier.
However the pink agave is still the better place for tacos, drinks, atmosphere and service THAN ALL of the rest. You just have to deal with...
