My wife and I were thrilled to find that this place was still open as we had previously ate there one time before but had noticed it was not very busy. This time, we were greeted by a server who was insanely rushed and not even attentive to our drink orders from the very beginning. Our food was DELICIOUS as always but when we got our check, we were absurdly up-charged for just about everything you could think of. We were told they do not do lunch menu's on Sunday so my wife just ordered 2 steak tacos, rice, and beans. This exact meal (which would have cost us $6.99 +$2.00 for a side of queso on the lunch menu) was charged as follows: $12.99 for 2 tacos, +$2.00 for steak, +$1.00 for sour cream, +$1.00 for tomatoes, +$2.00 for queso. My wife ended up being charged 250% more than it typically costs. Then on top of it, we were charged for TWO drinks when I only had water and she had only drank half and half tea.
This is a disgusting and unacceptable business practice. When we asked about the ridiculous pricing model, we were met with excuses and shrugs and were told that 'that's just the way it is'.
My wife and I have already agreed that we will never come here again. While the food is definitely great tasting, it's not worth the insane up-charge for the same menu items that can be bought from El Toro or El Nopal for HALF THE PRICE. I'd definitely stay away unless you want to end up paying $50 DOLLARS FOR LUNCH...
Read moreI had a chicken taco and cheese enchilada. The sauce on the enchilada tasted like tangy tomato, it was fine and tasted fresh, but I've had a lot better. The enchilada itself was good. The taco was as ordinary as could be - generic, crispy taco shell with shredded chicken that was fairly dry and topped with lettuce and cheese. It wasn't bad, but with all the great, artistic tacos around town, it wasn't what I expected for the price. In fact, the prices force you to hold the place to a higher standard...and that's the problem. My friend had a vegetarian quesadilla that was filled with mostly sauteed onions (way too many), spinach (very good and fresh), green peppers (fresh and good) and a gooey cheese that was kind of gross. Its fried tortilla was excellent, but the dish itself could have been a lot better and it failed the price test. The Hawaiian martini was great, the rice was good and so we're the black beans. The place probably makes some things that are really good, but these ordinary items we ordered were far from what...
Read moreLet's start out by saying the swirl margarita is great and strong like ox. The plantain's might be my favorite and I like the salsa even though my daughter thinks it's too spicy ( probably why I like it) not too spicy if you like heat. The rest of the menu is just mediocre. There is a different flavor profile than most Latin restaurant but I think they are a little overpriced. If you ask for anything; you will be charged. I had carnitas tacos and asked for a tomatilla sauce. Which is standard, even asked when I ordered if it came with and was told it would. Still had to ask for it when food came. Was brought out a small container with about a tablespoon worth. Not enough for my three tacos and I don't use sauce heavily. Had to ask for another cup again brought about a tablespoon to me. When check came I was charged twice for a tablespoon at $2 each. I don't usually write a bad review or I guess sort of bad review but the pricing and charging at this restaurant blows, thank God their margarita and...
