Quite possibly the worst dining experience I have ever had. I am not the type to leave a negative review (I actually usually only write reviews if I loved a place) but my experience was so awful here in every aspect that I wanted to share to maybe help someone avoid the headache. I swear every aspect of this is true even though it might sound like an episode of Bar Rescue or Kitchen Nightmare.
I had been to Mudrock's before but only to grab a beer with a few friends and it was okay, so since it is the only sports bar type tavern in the area we decided to meet there for the World Cup Final. You would expect a restaurant/bar that shows sports to be prepared for this, but they were not. We were able to find seating right away and sat down at 9 am at a good table to watch the game. It wasn't until at least 9:20 or so that a server came and asked for our drink orders. We all ordered bloody mary's and waters. She came back about 10 minutes later with our drinks but not water. We were watching the game and another 30 minutes passed before the server even asked to take our order. So finally, 50 minutes later we placed our orders (very simple breakfast burritos and biscuits and gravy were ordered). At this point the second half of the game had already started... still no water either despite asking numerous times.
Fast forward to an HOUR and a HALF later and our server walks by our table to tell us our food should be out soon. At this point the wait is comical and the match is almost over (anyone who knows soccer knows the games are not short). FINALLY an hour and forty minutes later what seems to be a manager and bus boy come from the back with our food on a tray. There was some sort of confusion as they had the order wrong and as they picked up a plate from the tray our entire order went crashing down to the ground. So after waiting an hour and forty minutes for food it was all dropped. Now this is where it starts to get ridiculous.
I am a reasonable person, I know things happen... especially in a service industry (I worked in one for four years) but the manager's response was ridiculous. He told us he could put in another order and rush it to us. At which time we told him we were not interested in waiting any longer for our food and were going to go elsewhere. The manager then proceeded to (in an angry tone) tell me to, "cut us a break, we are getting our asses handed to us man". Swearing at customers is not what I consider good business practice. I then told him I get that but the service was unacceptable and I don't appreciate the way we were treated and asked for our check. The busboy and manager then hastily cleaned up the food on the floor but left it a mess with spilled drinks and some food on the ground and did not put a caution sign up. This is where it gets crazy.
About 5-10 minutes later a mother carrying her no more than 6 month old baby was walking past our table and despite everyone sitting around trying to warn her, slipped on the wet ground and miraculously used her mom super strength to catch her self while protecting the baby. I then had to get the attention of the staff to come clean the mess, put a sign up, and apologize to the woman who was almost severely injured. Thankfully the baby was okay too. In the mean time the table next to us had witnessed everything and had to return the normal breakfast burrito they ordered that came to them as a tortilla with nothing but potatoes in it. The manager finally returned to our table and offered to comp our drinks angrily and we thanked him and left.
Between the hour and forty minutes to get food, poor service, being sworn at by the manager, spilled food, a baby almost being dropped on said food, wrong orders, etc. everything that could wrong basically did. I will never return to this establishment. The only positive was that they had plenty of TVs and the viewing set-up and atmosphere was good...
Read moreMy family and I have been loyal customers of this restaurant for years, visiting nearly once a week. We’ve always appreciated not just the quality of the food, but the welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, our most recent visit has us questioning whether we’ll return.
Upon arrival, my two children and I were seated in a booth while my partner stepped outside to take a work call. We sat unattended for about 10 minutes, and even after my partner returned, we waited another 5 minutes before anyone approached our table. While the delay was noticeable, what truly concerned me were the interactions I observed between staff members during that time.
I made eye contact with two different servers, one of whom immediately returned to her phone. An older server with visible tattoos and a sleeveless shirt was overheard saying she was not going to take our table. The one using her phone laughed, looked directly at us, and said she wouldn’t either. Another server who was working a separate section walked to the bar and was informed by the sleeveless server that they weren’t taking our table. She then approached the hostess and appeared frustrated about us being seated in that section. Ultimately, this third server ended up assisting us. She was very kind and attentive, and I sincerely appreciated her professionalism. When asked our server confirmed that she didn’t not have that section and was across the restaurant and indeed my observations were correct with other staff refusing to serve us.
Unfortunately, the issues didn’t end there. Our usual food order arrived, but something was noticeably off. The celery and carrots had a strong, unpleasant smell and seemed as though they’d been sitting in water for several days. The chicken was unusually dry and had an odd flavor we hadn’t experienced before.
I truly hope this was a one-time occurrence. We’ve had so many great experiences here in the past, which makes this visit all the more disappointing. However, witnessing servers openly refusing to serve a table and then being served subpar food, was not only surprising but disheartening. We’re unsure if we’ll return, but we hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses what appears to be a breakdown in both food quality and team...
Read moreI was so excited to finally have a bar and restaurant close to home that supports the local college team (aka CU Buffs). This past weekend I went to this establishment to watch the CU Football game with a friend. When I arrived the place was packed and I was seated in an area that they assured me all the TVs would be turned onto the game. The 3 TVs across from my booth and the easiest to look at were not changed when the game started. Our waitress was a bit overwhelmed so I asked several other servers and the hostess to change at least one of the TVs. They finally did and things were going great. The food lacks of any flavor, but you can't expect much more with bar food. It was the 4th quarter and a really tight game when all of the suddenly they changed the TV we were watching to a hockey game. I quickly grabbed someone and asked if they could quickly change it back. They gave me a hard time so I asked to speak with a manager. Harrpo (the manager and part owner) game over, by this time the TV was changed back and I told him he was no longer needed but if we could keep the game on the TV as we had been there well before the game even started. He gave me a few reasons as to why it was changed and was extremely rude. The next thing I knew he was across the restaurant huddled up with several employees all looking my way. Not obvious they were talking about my table. A few minutes later the owner Kevin came over to "apologize" for changing the TV. I told him, no worries and thanked him for getting the TV changed back to the game. He continued to be sarcastic with me, so I asked if he was the owner, to which he replied that he was and that he didn't care what I had to say about his manager because "that was his guy and he's going to have his back", he then proceeded to talk down to me and ask if I needed my very own TV. I was absolutely shocked that the owner would talk to a paying customer. I guess because I'm not a middle aged douche bag who’s getting drunk with all his buddies and building up a $100+ tab, I was not worth his business. Well Kevin and Harrpo congratulations you have lost my business. I'd much rather spend the extra money on my cable bill to get that football channel then support a...
