Drinks: We ordered cocktails. Their best of Louisville margarita tasted like an average margarita. It was a but frothier than a regular margarita. We tasted no habanero or anything special for that matter. The shaved coconuts were interesting though.
I got the Moscow mule. It wasn't very good. It had a gross taste to it, like they used sweet and sour mix. I would suggest something else.
Food: we got the fried pickles. They were outstanding. They give a ton of pickles and a tiny bit of dipping sauce. The ratio was way off. Husband got the piggyback burger. He said it needed more bbq sauce and should be served with pickles as is most BBQ. The sauce on the burger was a bit overly sweet. Could use some vinegar.
I got the black bean burger. The bun was burnt on the inside. I like it grilled with a little char, that adds flavor. This was burnt!! The burger tasted fine. The consistency was beyond gross. It tasted like someone chewed up beans, spit them out & smooshed them into a patty. The lettuce was like the rubbery decorative stuff that goes on the side of the plate (that nobody eats). Avocados tasted like nothing. Tomatoes we're small and thick cut. They don't work well on a sandwich. The whole thing just kind of tasted like you're eating mushy flavorless food.( Like when you have a cold and can't taste anything. ) The fries were well seasoned but so thick, each fry is a mouthful of potato.
Service: very friendly, answered questions, a little slow.
The place: looks like a cool place. It was pretty empty for a...
Read moreWhy didn't we think of this earlier?! We were toiling away trying to figure out where to go to eat when we stumbled into the Hub. Unsure as to what their food menu was like we decided to sit down and get a drink and see what happened from there.
My girlfriend got a cocktail, i got a beer, and we hung out and poured over the menu. I am a glutton for fried pickles (say what you want) and the fried pickles at the Hub were amazing! They tasted like bread and butter pickles, so a little sweet, but they were divine.
For an entree I ordered the bbq jackfruit tacos and good lord they were amazing! Normally vegetarian food at restaurants and bars is squash and beans but the jackfruit tacos had me thinking that "somebody loves me!" up there in vegetarian heaven. I was happy it was 3 tacos too, and they were delicious down to the last bite. I was even picking up the little pieces that fell outta my tortilla and popping them in my mouth (much to my girlfriends chagrin).
I am so happy to have found the hub, with some good vegetarian options on a delicious food menu in a hip bar in a cool part of town that I had obviously overlooked too many times.
Thanks for the goodness. My compliments to the chef for the...
Read moreDecided to do an event here among with friends to celebrate after proposal party. The event was a surprise which my now fiancee had no idea that our friends from all over the country will be there to surprise.
As we walked through the doors, we were greeted with "Are you here for the surprise engagement party for X and Y?" to which my fiancee looked at me and said "He is X and I am Y so yeah we are here for that". My once in lifetime moment that I've spent months planing was ruined in that instance. I blame poor management and nothing will bring that moment back. On top there was a big halloween night planned where people kept coming into our designated room and started eating our food. Management didn't care for that either. The only reason I didn't go plan an event anywhere else is because everyone else was forthcoming about their halloween parties which was expected but I feel I was blindsided by Hub's management.
Food and Drinks were good and I would probably rate this place 3.5/5 but just because their server (Jasmine) ruined my surprise party for my fiancee, giving them one star is still pushing. Thanks...
