Having eaten many times at Marketplace at Theater Square, we were very familiar with Dallas' prowess in the kitchen which meant we were excited to try The Fat Lamb. Let's just say, no one in our party was disappointed and I'd heartily recommend a visit to anyone in the area.
We basically ate family style, tasting and sharing everything so we could try far more than otherwise possible. We started with the list of signature cocktails and each of the appetizers. Then proceeded to almost all the entrees. And of course then the dessert menu as well. We walked out after the evening with more take home boxes than I'd ever seen at one time for a single party and so full I skipped the first two meals the next day. I'm sure many of you don't really believe this, so a photocopy of the receipt is attached. And I have to say that for such an unusual order and a constant parade of plates (both directions, to the table and away to be boxed), our waitress Kelly did a phenomenal job and the kitchen didn't seem to miss a beat either. So many props to everyone who was working that evening, job very well done.
I'm tempted to list out everything that was exceptional but that would basically be listing, well, almost everything. We each had our favorites but since I'm writing the review I guess I'll highlight my favorites. The risotto fritters were so good it was hard to stop eating them and the brussels sprouts were excellent as well. And it seems so "simple" but the tomato ricotta brioche toast was done to perfection, I couldn't help myself and finished it off. As for entrees, this is like splitting hairs the level of excellence was so high. The three that I narrowly liked the most were the super juicy and tender pork tenderloin, the lamb ragu with polenta to die for, and the veal meatloaf. I want to make special mention of the veal meatloaf because each of us made comments to the effect that it was so, so good and we we wondered if some people might discount it because of the term "meatloaf". Well if so, then they missed out on what could have been one of the best meals of their life and I feel sad for them. It was incredible and so very good. Among the desserts, the tiramisu had such a perfect light texture but the mousse was the hit of the...
Read moreDuring our visit to Louisville for the GAMA trade show, we had the pleasure of dining at The Fat Lamb for a business dinner, and what an incredible experience it was!
From the moment we stepped in, the laid-back atmosphere of The Fat Lamb enveloped us. The cozy yet chic decor and welcoming ambiance set the stage for a memorable evening. The hustle and bustle of the city seemed to fade away as we settled into our seats, ready for a culinary adventure.
Our waitress, Heather, immediately made us feel at home with her friendly demeanor and impeccable service. She ensured our drinks kept flowing and guided us through the menu with expertise.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show: the food. Each dish that graced our table was a masterpiece, but the standout for me was the Black Vinegar Braised Beef Short Rib. Oh, where do I begin? The beef was succulent and tender, practically melting in my mouth with each bite. The flavors were perfectly balanced, with the tanginess of the black vinegar complementing the richness of the meat. It was undoubtedly one of the best meals I had during my entire stay in Louisville.
But the culinary delights didn't stop there. Every dish we tried, from appetizers to desserts, showcased the skill and creativity of the chefs at The Fat Lamb. Each plate was a work of art, as delicious as it was visually stunning.
As the evening progressed, we were treated to another delightful surprise. The manager, Jay, went above and beyond to ensure our experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Not only did he oversee every aspect of our meal with precision, but he also ended the night by crafting some incredible shots for us, adding an extra touch of fun and camaraderie to the evening.
In conclusion, The Fat Lamb exceeded all expectations and left a lasting impression on us. With its laid-back atmosphere, impeccable service, and exceptional cuisine, it's no wonder this restaurant is a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Whether you're in town for a trade show or simply looking for a memorable dining experience, The Fat Lamb is a must-visit destination in...
Read moreI was super impressed with The Fat Lamb. This was the first time any of the members in my party had ate at The Fat Lamb. We found the place on a recommendation list of great restaurants for celebrations. We ordered the following appetizers caramelized hush puppies, garlic ricotta bread, fried cauliflower and goat cheese dip. Of what we ordered I tried all but the goat cheese, though I did have some of the pita bread that came with it. The presentation and taste was excellent. The hush puppies were perfection, the fried cauliflower have a tangy teriyaki flavor to them and the garlic ricotta bread was flavorful with a satisfactory crunch. The entree I ordered was the double cheese burger with one slight alteration. I asked for the Sriracha powder from the fried chicken entree to be served aside. I took the pickles off after I received my burger because I like the slight hint of pickle without the strong flavor of eating it directly and added some of the Sriracha powered to the top of the burger patty. The burger easily tops as one the best I've ever had, I can't think of a single thing I would have changed about the burger. It was just the right amount of juiciness without being greasy or soaking the bread. The flavor was fresh and complete and the fries served with it had just the right amount of crunch and were not too salty.
The only thing I could say negative about the restaurant was the price, but that's about par for the course when dealing with restaurants of this tier, and the excellent food definitely makes it feel like you are getting your money's worth.
10/10 I would...
