In the heart of Louisville, KY, Neat offers a quietly extraordinary experience for bourbon enthusiasts. The bar specializes in vintage selections, some more than 50 years old, while also rotating in contemporary offerings that showcase the breadth and depth of American whiskey.
The standout is Tyler, the bartender, whose expertise transforms each visit into something resembling a masterclass. He guides patrons with a practiced, unassuming authority, making even the most complex pours—from Blanton’s to Willett—accessible and memorable. Bottles that are not the rarest are nonetheless remarkable, their flavors rich, layered, and impeccably measured. The liquid in the best bottles they have are in a word: Glorious.
Yet Neat’s charm is as much in its atmosphere as its inventory. Far from the stiff formality often associated with fine spirits, the space evokes the warmth of a local 1980s dive bar: casual, unpretentious, and inviting. One feels at ease here, free to linger over a glass and savor both the drink and the company.
For the devoted bourbon-lover, Neat is essential. For the casual visitor, it offers a glimpse into the art of American whiskey. In the meantime, it lingers in the imagination: the next visit already feels imminent, the next pour a dream in waiting. Come...
Read moreI made this one of my 2 stops on an unfortunately abbreviated visit to Louisville. And I'm so glad I did. Fantastic bar with a purist foundation - the drinks showed so many small touches indicative of real artistry. Makenna really made the experience though, with her friendly but not obsequious manner, and obvious love for the company she works for and the experience they offer, plus genuine kindness. Five star experience in every way. I'll be back on my next trip. *also, for the one negative reviewer, batching cocktails like Sazerac, is THE way to do it, for a consistent experience and a more elevated...
Read moreIf you like bourbon and are in Louisville, do yourself a favor and get a few pours at Neat Bourbon Bar! This place is simply amazing! It's like visiting the Louvre but instead of just gazing upon the beauty of the Mona Lisa, you get to watch da Vinci paint it. OK, maybe a stretch but with enough bourbon... seriously though, you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you don't swing by. Staff is super helpful and their hospitality is top notch. I was in Louisville for a week, went on a friend's recommendation the first night, had to go back the last night cause it was just that good. So just go and...
