My first time dining in and having dinner at Prasino was so amazing that I ended up going back the following morning for breakfast, since I saw they had some unique morning dishes. Everything I had for both breakfast and dinner just seemed so extra flavorful, so freshly prepared, and aesthetically pleasing to the eye, in both arrangement and vivid color. Prasino's meals stimulate all of your senses, and I really appreciated that awakening!
π»πββπΌβ: To my knowledge, I believe this is the only place in Downtown La Grange that serves saganaki (it is on their dinner menu only, not lunch). Although they said the fire dept will not allow them to flame it tableside due to the low wooden ceiling, it was just as flavorful. Their dinner menu has other adventurous starters like the sous vide octopus salad, as well as your favorites like a burger, which comes with your choice of roasted potatoes or pasta (which FYI had peas in it).
π»βπβππ: There is a good size menu of fun cocktails like In the Violet Hour, which is Violette liqueur of a pretty purple shade, garnished with a complimenting lime. Not to mention there is even more options of wonderful teas, smoothies, and healthy juices, like the Wickedly Green juice. (Note: the menu says fresh juices are available til 4:30, I believe). However, if you decide to just stick with water, we both noticed how pure tasting the complimentary drinking water was, so I am sure it must be filtered water.
πΉβπΌπΈππ½πΈππ: Breakfast also has unique items to try like pretzel fresh toast, the short rib skillet, and unique variations of Eggs Benedict, like one with crab cakes. Plus, breakfast is available later in the day, until 2:30p.m. I think the menu said.
I decided on the Paris Benedict, which was unlike any Eggs Benedict I have ever had β and that's saying something, since Eggs Benedict is my favorite breakfast and I try it every place that has it, everywhere I travel! It was a real good, thick cut of ham with brie cheese and truffle Hollandaise on a soft butter croissant, topped, of course, with 2 poached eggs, which were the most vibrant sunny tone of yellow I have ever seen. That was definitely a taste combination I have never had before, and my tastebuds appreciated the new flavorful experience! The included roasted potatoes were very tasty as well.
πΈππππββπΌβπΌ: It's a narrow restaurant but very long and spacious. There are booths on the side opposite the windows that are separated between by a wooden wall up to the ceiling, so they feel out of the way and private in a sense. It's a great spot for a conversation, but also to comfortably dine solo. In warm weather, outdoor tables with umbrellas extend the full length of the building. Lastly, the staff are not just friendly but also extra polite in their ways.
Prasino quickly became one of my new restaurant favorites, and I am willing to bet it will yours, too! I cannot believe I waited so long to try it. Don't make the same mistake, and...
Β Β Β Read moreWe had reservations for Mother's Day for 3:30pm. Was told while booking that we only have 90mins to be seated and out the door which is fine. Our group was 9 ppl. Came before 3:30pm. The table that was right up front was cleaned and ready. We waited for 15-20 mins to be seated when we have reservations booked. They seated a total of 6 families that came after us to be seated before us. We asked the waitress why arent we being seated she said we are waiting for the party to leave they sat over 90 mins but we cannot do anything. Mind you the table that was up front been cleaned and was waiting for a party to be seated in. After 15 mins the waitress sat us on the table that was ready since the beginning for us. I told the waitress this was out table all along but you guys are giving us an excuse that you are still waiting for another party to leave our original table? Which I STILL do not believe. Food wise, we got the chicken skewers, veggie flatbread, and the spreads for apps which werent bad. Waitress comes, half of our party wanted the salmon she tells us oh wait I believe that I just heard we RAN OUT of salmon. Well, maybe if we were seated when our reservations started that would not be a problem. I ordered the short rib tacos I was given the short rib with a parm cheese siding (which I was not a fan) I told the waitress that my order is wrong she said "would you like tortillas it will be the samething if I just bring you the tortillas. Which no it will not be, my aunt ordered the tacos and there was sauce and a siding with it. We told her to hand us the check right when the food came because we were ready to leave, it dragged so much that we were getting irked. Mined you the waitress dragged to come take our order to come see if we needed anything else. To receive the bill we were charged automatically 20% tip bc of a large party which is fine but there are options 15-20% tip. PLUS, they mentioned on the receipt if we would like to tip ADDITIONALLY! I do not think that any of us would come back. This was our first experience will prob be the last experience. This was Mothers Day, which we were planning on enjoying this brunch type of event but...
Β Β Β Read moreI recently visited Prasino for a dining experience, and unfortunately, my overall impression was far from positive. While the ambiance and food quality were up to par, I left the establishment with a sour taste in my mouth due to an unexpected and undisclosed charge.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, I was immediately drawn in by the cozy and inviting atmosphere. The decor and lighting created a warm ambiance that seemed promising for a delightful dining experience. The menu offered a range of enticing options, and after careful consideration, I chose a veg-out omelet. When I requested a side substitution of potatoes for the salad, the waitress did not mention any additional charges for this change.
The disappointment arose when I received the bill at the end of the meal. I was taken aback to see an extra charge added to my total for the simple substitution of potatoes on the salad. I had specifically inquired about the possibility of changing sides, and the waitress had not indicated that there would be an extra cost associated with this alteration. It was disappointing and frustrating to be blindsided by an unexpected charge that had not been communicated upfront.
I believe that transparency is crucial in customer service, especially when it comes to financial matters. Had I been informed of the additional charge for the side substitution, I would have made a more informed decision about my order. It's disheartening to think that such a small oversight on the part of the waitress could mar what could have otherwise been an enjoyable dining experience.
While I cannot fault the food quality or the ambiance of Prasino, the lack of disclosure regarding the extra charge for my order modification left me feeling unsatisfied and frustrated. It's my hope that the establishment takes this feedback constructively and emphasizes the importance of clear communication with their patrons, ensuring that future diners can enjoy their meals without encountering any unpleasant surprises...
