I had asked my husband to walk to this place to get all of us food to bring back because I am currently 3 months post partum and was not wanting to bring our new baby out in the Florida heat. When he arrived back, he discovered that his grouper sandwich was not plain like he had ordered. My husband refuses to eat anything that touches food he doesn’t like. So he walked the sandwich back and requested that it be made correctly. Once he arrived back at the condo again, he discovered that yet again it had been made incorrectly. So this time, I called and politely spoke with the GM who was an absolute sweetheart and agreed to make it again. This time, I walked back and encountered a male server that looked like he was ready to burn the place down. I jokingly told him that he looked mad at the world to which he replied that he hates everyone. He then proceeded to tell me that he had a man in here who was too dumb to take lettuce and tomato off of a grouper sandwich. I obviously knew he was talking about my husband so I just smiled and ensured him that it’s really not a big deal. The GM then hand delivered the correctly made food with some extras for our trouble. Which was absolutely sweet of her for making the situation right. I apologized to everyone for the whole ordeal and thanked them again. I’m not mad at the male server by any means. It was a busy Friday evening in prime tourist time. My only advice to him is just to remember that frustration goes both ways. I can understand how frustrating it is to have an angry customer on a busy night but I also know how frustrating it is to be a customer that makes $10 an hour and has to work over 2 hours to be able to afford that grouper sandwich that wasn’t made correctly not once but twice. Also remember that there is a reason why I was the one that came back instead of my husband. I spared you the butt chewing you would of received it were my husband that came back...
Read moreI have never been so bothered by the way that an employee has acted at a your restaurant Tuesday night !! After enjoying a meal with my husband swapping stories with Ian and talking grandbabies with Amber, there was some sort of disagreement with the bartender and the manager. Although I did not hear the subject of the argument, your bartender proceeded to parade the manager on duty in front of other guests. I wasn’t impressed with him to begin with the drinks for too sweet with barely any ice. I had to ask for more ice and ended up with 2 drinks for the price of one ! He was more interested in talking to every female that walked into the door then helping the other employees on the floor that night they come from a long line of service issue people and I’ve been on my own successfully for the past 20 years.
The way that employee acted on Tuesday night would’ve been means for automatic termination in my book.
Come down every year we enjoy the food and the staff everytime ! This was the first time we had an encounter with this “bartender” …
I’m sad to say that we will not be back so this establishment without calling for us to see who is working I will not spend money on drinks that are subpar or in an environment where the staff thinks it’s OK to yell at the manager On the floor with guest around or actually ever!!
Amber and Ian were a delight… that other guy needs...
Read morePirates Pub and Grub in John’s Pass, Madeira Beach has always had a welcoming vibe. Every time I walked in, I was greeted with a smile, and the majority of the staff were absolutely amazing attentive, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. That kind of energy is what keeps people coming back.
Unfortunately, one staff member in particular really stood out for the wrong reasons. I believe his name was Andrew. From the moment I sat at the bar, his attitude was cold and disinterested. He talked more about working at Applebee’s than the place he was actually clocked in at and honestly, it showed. The drinks he served were poorly made, lacking both care and quality. What was most concerning, though, was his hygiene. Watching him handle cherries with bare, unwashed hands to do some unimpressive bar trick was a major red flag. It was more off-putting than entertaining.
To make it worse, even the new staff in training seemed more invested in creating a good experience than he did. If someone doesn’t care about their job, it becomes obvious and sadly, that’s the case here.
I truly enjoy the vibe of Pirates and the rest of the team Amber, Jered, Maria, Hollie, Ian and I believe their guy training was Gabe , but as long as that Andrew guy is working, I won’t be back. Feeling unwelcome is one thing; questioning whether your bartender is being...
