Charm and Function - Works Great with Young Kids
We loved our stay at Surf Song in Unit 331. Itâs small, but has everything you need. While the layout of the unit is a little funky, it works great as a base-of-operation for a beach-going family. The master bedroom â the first room upon entry â is decorated with Florida charm (as is the whole place) and quite functional with adequate closet and dresser space. The bathroom is spacious enough for 2 people to move around in. The stand-up shower is suitable enough for a 6â 2â, 220 lb man. The kitchen has nice appliances with many sturdy dishes, flatware, and utensils. In the living room, we used both a pack-n-play and the fold-out couch for nighttime and were able to shuffle back to useable space for the daytime.
Itâs a wonderful place to prep, rest a bit, refresh, and head back out to the beach, pool, or boardwalk. You can certainly see the beach well enough to judge conditions and crowd. Yes, youâre looking over a roof, but even a very short person can see the beach. Itâs a great view! Balcony is shared, however, this is an end unit, and the balcony is not a walkway. It felt like we had our own private balcony.
The whole property is wonderfully maintained. Both the unit and property are very clean, and the staff are incredibly welcoming and hospitable. Maria, in the office, was friendly, helpful and accommodating. We met the maintenance man (CJ) in passing, who was personable and took the time to talk with my son and answer his questions. It was like taking with old friends. Both gave great suggestions on things to do in the area.
The pool and beach are both quick and easy to get to; making multiple trips isnât a problem. Itâs easy to get into and out of the parking lot from either direction. Itâs located across the street from Johnâs Pass which offers a wide variety of food, shopping, and activity for all ages. Itâs very near a pedestrian walkway, so no safety concerns. Overall, I felt very safe with my family in the area both day and night.
We also got to know many long time returning guests, who joked not to tell people about Surf Song, as they wanted to keep it a hidden gem. If we find ourselves in Madeira Beach again, we would...
Read moreJust returned from surf song. Been vacationing there over the years from 1989. Our room 224 was excellent as expected however and this breaks my heart. The pool and exterior has gone down. Arriving Friday we hopped into the clear pool and enjoying every minute. Saturday we noticed it getting cloudy by Sunday the pool was a disguising. A lady we met took a water sample to have tested. Came back no chlorine, no stabilizer. No chemicals at all. After many calls to the management office controlling the outside property it came down to threats of public health because children/adults swimming could get ear, eye or staf infections. The pool company shows up. Finally on Monday afternoon the company showed up. Their pool tech admitted to my daughter the chlorine ran out Friday and he knew it. When the Tollivers ran surf song, Steve would be there every morning vacuuming and testing. No one vacuumed once while we were there. Now Iâm told an independent runs the pool and doesnât give a hoot about our health or the condition if the pool. On Tuesday we swam and the levels where so high it was burning my eye going under water. ||On top of that the elevator broke down with us inside. Scary with a child. |The shuffle board is taped off needing much repairs and some of the umbrellas need replacing. |The last thing steve or Tim would do is lock up the pool at 9:30. Well let me let you the hollering and party in the pool was annoying after 10:30. This went on till after 11.|There is no outside management onsite, so itâs a free for all. I think the Board of Directors need to reevaluate their decision to remove the Tollivers. Surf sing Ran like a well oiled engine. Now itâs a sinking ship but I hear the Board of directors know (owners) knows people will rent and then find out after they have their places are rented. |Iâm really going to have to think hard about...
Read moreWe have family coming in from Ohio, we were planning to stay at one of the condos. Well on their website (SUNHOST RESORTS) it states they have MANY units available for a 3 night minimum. Well that is a complete lie. I am a local, and we were going to take our family down to the beach for 3 nights, and then off to Disney for 2 days. The lady I spoke to wouldn't honor what it CLEARLY states on their website, told me that we had to stay for 4 nights. Well im already booked for Disney. Im very dissatisfied with their customer service. You would think they would honor what it says on their website! so now I have to completely start all over booking a room for 3 nights. Its unfortunate because we have a lot of family that travel here to visit, and im sure if we would of given this place the thumbs up they would of stayed here also. Hope nothing else they offer is a complete lie, good luck to the people that deal with these people. COMPLETELY unfriendly. I worked in the hospitality for many years and I know if this women who runs this place wanted to honor what their website states CLEARLY she would of. TERRIBLE CUSOMER SERVICE!!!! I will never recommend this place to ANYONE and We have a LOT of family that come to visit!!
Follow up, they have now changed the minimum nights to 4, which is great for them but that isn't what it said when I called.
We booked a condo right next door at the Johns Pass Condos, highly recommend them!! Very friendly...
