Yume Sushi — Restaurant in Madison

Badger Alumni will weep when they attempt to relive their first sushi experiences at this establishment. Yume might reside in what was famed Wasabi, but it will never approach its consistency, textures, and flavors.

We had tea, edamame, and an array of sushi. The tea was weak and hot. The edamame was undercooked and underseasoned. The sushi was betrayed by unseasoned rice and untoasted nori. While much of the fish was good, it was inexpertly cut and at times a bit dried out. The tempura was soft and cold, and the sweet potato underdone.

I will only give Yume the service award. The waitstaff were great. At Wasabi, you had to make sure you got the best waitress, but here, everyone was trying really hard to make your experience enjoyable. I just miss the pleasant welcome of Ken Katsuma behind that sushi bar, darnit....

What a cool spot! I'm from Las Vegas, and this place was good enough to be right off the Las vegas strip! So good! My partner and I tried the seaweed salad, konoge, as our apps, and we did the spicy salmon roll, which was much like a Philadelphia roll but with some kick to it! Spicy tuna roll, which was her favorite because it was the spiciest. She likes spice. Crunchy shrimp, which was also delicious! The crunch was perfect, spicy, and tangy, which I really enjoyed! puppy love, which has mango in it, which I surprisingly really liked. The mango freshened it up really nicely! We ordered delivery last night. We both got side salads with out orders, very fresh and crisp with classice ginger dressing. Each of us got regular rolls for appetizers. The price seemed high for the small, simple 6 piece rolls but they were yummy. For entrees we did katsu don and oyakon which both had mix oshinko and sweet egg omelettes over rice. The oyakon chicken was rather dry but I finished my leftovers for lunch just now and I'm satisfied. I might stick to Takara for sushi next time, but I've heard this place has good reviews for their Udon so I'll probably order that if we get something...
