Bar Sierra — Restaurant in Mammoth Lakes

Upon entering there was no hostess .We waited too long to get seated, restaurant was empty with plenty of staff running around. We were seated and not given menus, which took around entirely too long for us to get. Our drink orders were taken about 20 minutes after sitting. While waiting for our food, two parties had similar experiences in waiting for a hostess. They waited around 15 minutes and eventually both left after receiving no help. When it was time for our table to order, I asked about the spaghetti bolognese sauce, which i was told was a marinara based (not cream) with meat, and ordered that. The plate came and looked and tasted like a can of sloppy joe meat on top of pasta, there was no marinara sauce to it and the pasta was dry. The meat "sauce" also had chopped carrots in it, which i was not a fan of. I asked for some marinara sauce but this did not help much. I made it clear i did not like the plate but no aplogies were offered. For 22$ i expected much more in a bowl of pasta. The bombay flatbread had very little flavor to it. My buddy had the porterhouse steak which he enjoyed, but the staff could not find a decent steak knife for him to cut it with. He kind of had to tear it apart with a dull knife and fork. Overall the food was overpriced, and was not very good. The service was poor and slow, our waiter did his best but it appeared not many other staff members cared enough to provide good service. We came here around 7 o'clock to get some dinner before we headed to our hotel room. This place was recommended by the hotel nearby, saying that they have great food. We decided to try it and boy was that a bad decision.

We waited about 3 mins to be seated which was awesome but that's where all the good things end. We were given bread and water within the first 10 minutes but then we waited for a good 30 mins before a server came to take our drinks or meal order. We asked someone to help us and the person presumably went but he never returned. We finally asked another person to order and he was able to help us.

I attempted to order the prime rib but was told they were out of that, I went to my second option which was the ribs and they were out of that as well. I ordered a burger. In all honesty the burger was decent but my friends food which was over $20 per plate was apparently not good and not worth it.

We finally had a waitress show up to help us which made the experience better. She felt bad for us for having such bad service and food that she decided to give us Chocolate Cake on the house. She offered my friend more food since his portion was not very big. I think her name Liz, if management is reading this make sure to give her a raise because she made the experience just a bit...

The atmosphere is so great, I’m writing a poor review because I want this place to do well. No one greeted me at the door, I had to ask if I should seat myself. I grabbed a table and after waiting 10 minutes, I went to the bar to ask for service. There were five tables and two servers, so it wasn’t like they were busy. I was never served water. I ordered bbq and while the sides were ok, the brisket was terrible. It was so tough and bland. I had to tear into it with the butter knife I was provided, which tore up the butcher paper it was served on so every bite had little paper bits.
