Why is this place so highly rated? I will tell you what I think based on having breakfast here 7/16/2022. Often after a great meal and well executed service I think of writing a great review.. and then life happens, time passes, and the gracious review goes unwritten. As usual writing the review almost slipped me, but this time the I am writing the review. Good tipping is always thank you enough for lots of staff, but I just want to say thank you in writing for the FRESH, DELICIOUS HIGH QUALITY FOOD and attentive service. Seems like you all respect each other and are committed to the goal of excellent service at work. Thank you for you excellence. It was a highlight of my trip. My whole wheat pancake was everything I crave in a pankake. How did they do that with whole wheat? My NY strip was actually served MR, like I ordered :) I do not know if the meat was grassfed, grain finished, or simply well nutured on the farm, but it was great! The color and texture were superb. I was in awe. The OJ was fresh, and the bacon I saw on many other tables looked thick, firm and crispy. My friend ordered a burrito, which I tasted, and was so good, tasted like a slow roasted ratatouille was draped over the top. Mmmm. I could have had that just as a soup! If I ever get a next time here I will have that bacon, and fresh OJ...
Read moreA decent cafe to grab a quick breakfast in Mammoth Lakes. We ordered Southwest Scramble & Eggs Florentine, among these two I would definitely rate the Eggs Florentine a hight number than the scramble.
The Eggs Florentine with two poaches eggs on the english muffin was amazing. The sauce on it was rich and yummy in taste. The crispy crunchy muffin at the bottom of poached eggs and the delicious flavors of the sauces along with the perfectly cooked poaches eggs was a perfect combination. I would try this dish if at good life cafe.
The Southwest Scramble was okay , and had a lot better than this other cafes. The drawback was that the scramble was a little bit on the drier side , topping of the scramble with some sauce would definitely make it more good. The hash-brown on the side of the scramble was not great either.
The atmosphere up this place was a little bit disturbed when we visited as there was a customer who was having an argument with the manager and it really gave a very negative vibe to this place, which made me a little bit hesitant if or not to visit this place. However , I tried to be positive and visited this place looking at over 1000 reviews with a rating of 4.3 , which other cafes or breakfast places...
Read moreWe saw the good reviews so we decided to try for breakfast while visiting Mammoth. The food was not great. We left most of the food on our plates. The hash browns and the bacon were cooked unevenly. Hamburger patty was not cooked all the way. I wanted the meat cooked well and it was pink in the middle.
The only option for alternative creamer is soy milk. They sell it by the glass. So, no coffee if you have a dairy allergy and/or don’t do soy.
NOTE: The waitress brought the check and then and only then (not before we ordered) she informed us that there was an 18% service charge for parties of 5 or more. I looked at the check and the charge was listed as a room fee! Google definition of a room fee is basically renting your table to eat your meal. A dedicated space for large parties. Restaurants use it to cover rental of the space, staffing, etc. They sat us at a table with four chairs and stuck another chair at the end of the table.
The only positive thing was the staff was nice, but you factor in them hiding the room fee - calling it a service charge and not notifying us of it before we ordered…so there you go! We paid to sit at our table and for food that was...
