Giovanni's Pizzeria — Restaurant in Mammoth Lakes

A really great experience during an extremely busy night.

This is a nice, cozy, family friendly Italian restaurant with incredible service and good, fresh food. The restaurant has a full sit-down area, a sports bar and take out.

The service by EVERYONE was excellent. Special kudos to Stephanie! This shows that Management treats their employees with respect and provides an effective work environment.

We had Bolognese, Masterpiece Pizza, Eggplant Parmesan and Minestrone Soup. All were served hot and were delicious. The Bolognese has great meat flavor with fresh ingredients. Well balanced flavor with umami, sour, sweet, salty and spicy. I would also recommend the additional meatballs which were great. Each bite as delicious as the one prior. My one dissatisfaction was the pasta was slightly overcooked and not properly drained. But as crowded and busy as it was, I will give this an easy pass. All plates were completely clean in a short time. The Minestrone Soup was made with fresh carrots, beans, tomatoes and rich broth. Definitely a soup that was made well and fresh.

Who doesn't love a good group Mammoth trip where board games and alcohol are the medicine to the aching bones of controlled snow falling. Well that's what we're doing right now and the goal for dinner was to find a place that would accommodate my group of 15 people with less than 2 hours notice. Giovanni's was up to the task. They were friendly in keeping us informed of how our table outlook was while we were lounging the waiting room. So 5 stars for the greet and registration staff.

Once we were sat, service would be a different story. It was friendly, but didn't come as often as we'd like. I never heard the question being asked if I wanted a drink refill, or how the food was. Now I feel I've taken those things for granted, but it's totally noticeable when it doesn't come. This lowered the experience quite a bit.

I can't say that I had the signature dish here (pizza), but from my two toppings (mushroom and shrimp) in my calzone, I would think that a pizza would be...

Gross!!! Ordered Greek salad with chicken, large pizza with white sauce- spinach - artichoke - chicken, and chicken fettuccine Alfredo. My salad had no olives- my husband's favorite. The chicken was not even chicken.... It was a pressed, spongy, colored chicken product....GROSS! These same gross chicken-like substance was on the pizza. Oh AND we did not even get chicken on the chicken Alfredo that we had to pay extra for!!! I called the shop and the guy who answered the phone was not concerned with my missing olives or the fact they they don't even serve real chicken. I did not realize at that moment that we were missing the chicken from the Alfredo. He even argued with me that that that there was olives just not as many as I wanted there to be.... NO there was none! I know what an olive is and there was none in the salad. If you want good service and real food then DO NOT go here.
