Delicious! I'm no stranger to Greek cuisine, and I didn't really know what to expect given that this is a franchise. You may even be thinking, as I did prior to coming here, "Really, another Greek place on South Willow?" However, The Great Greek truly impressed both me and my partner. Their ingredients all taste exceedingly fresh and everything was flavored/seasoned quite nicely. The gyro meat was tender, moist, and very tasty! My partner also said that his falafel was equally moist (we hate a dry falafel!) And the fries?? Honestly my new favorite fries in all of Manch. They're the kind that are nicely crisped on the outisde and fluffy on the inside. I got a kids gyro plate meal, which had a very fair, sizeable portion - not at all skimpy. Our only constructive criticism: we wish that they would add a kids' sized falafel plate to their menu. As others on here have already stated, the staff here are friendly and provide fast service. The owner even thanked us for stopping in and wished us a happy holiday, which was sweet (I could tell he had been there all day too, which speaks to the dedication.) Definitely...
Read moreFrom the moment I waltzed through the doors of The Great Greek, I was greeted like an old friend returning from a long voyage—smiles as warm as fresh pita bread and service so swift, you'd think they trained with Hermes himself.
My order was packed up with such loving care, you'd think it was a gift from Mount Olympus. And that gyro? Oh, honey. The first bite made my tastebuds break into song. It was a symphony of flavor—juicy, savory, perfectly seasoned—and so pretty, I had to snap a photo and send it to the family , just to stir a little envy (mission accomplished!).
Later, I rendezvoused with my husband, who opted for the spinach pie. One bite and he was positively swooning. Light, flaky, and filled with just the right touch of spinach—it was as if the pastry had been kissed by a Greek goddess.
The prices? Kind and fair as a summer breeze. And though I took my meal to go, I peeked inside and wow—the restaurant was pristine enough to impress even the pickiest of mortals.
I shall return, with hunger in my heart and...
Read moreMy first thought was to try the The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill. It was a big disappointment . Ordered the Gyro sandwich. The gyro served was the paste kind like the ground meat kind. It was soft and not very well cooked. Tomatoes, onions, lettuce and plenty of tzatziki sauce filled the pita bread together with strips of gyro meat. The place was small, self serve and opened recently. Price was $14.09 with tax included. Checked out the place and the menu waiting for my order to arrive. Nothing in the place and menu looked like it didn't come out of a delivery truck frozen. Greek gyro is NOT the ground type but real meat pieces seasoned and cooked on a rotisserie. It is to be cooked crispy on the outside but juicy and tender inside. Real gyro meat can not ship frozen however and can not be franchised easily either. It has to be made locally daily. This franchise is the fast food type of something that resembles Mediterranean cuisine. Better meals can be bought elsewhere for less money. It is a...
