UPDATE: TRIPLE CHOCLOATE: Moist chocolate with good chocolate flavor including the frosting. I will definitely get this one again. I feel like it's hard to get a good chocolate flavor into cakes. and it was a lot better than expected.. but I also didn't have high expectations from the last couple times I visited there. The German chocolate flavor was exactly how I would expect it and it was moist. The texture was pleasant. Maybe I got more of a fresh one?
PEANUT BUTTER CUP: Moist chocolate with good flavor and the peanut butter frosting was great. It was my favorite from the bunch.
APPLE CIDER: This was a let down for me but it was okay. I'm particular about the apple cider flavor and it just wasn't there. The flavor was more of a spice cake vs apple cider.
RASPBERRY ALMOND: I've never had this flavor anywhere. I learned that I'm not a fan of the almond flavoring but I think someone who likes this flavor would really like it.
CARAMEL APPLE SUCKER: I misread the email.. I was expecting a Caramel Apple cupcake and was quite surprised when I ate this. It tastes just like the sucker. Great flavor of you like the sucker.
ORIGINAL POST: The taste is great but the texture and moistness has been off for me. We've had a couple different experiences. Years ago when we first tried them, we thought they were amazing. Flavorful, moist.. left us excited to go back for more (We had the Cheesecake, Salted Caramel, Lemon Drop and Kitty Litter). When we went back the second time, several months later, we had the Salted Caramel and a chocolate one. They were both dry.. had flavor but on the dry side. We were so confused at how there could be such a difference. It seemed like they had been sitting out for awhile.
Then we found Nothing Bundt Cakes and that became our #1 spot for cake cravings. While I love them, I was craving something different and decided to give Nadia a try again. I got the Salted Caramel because I loved the filling and flavor the first time. This is my favorite flavor in general and it was so memorable for me the first time I had it at Nadia. Well.. the jury it still out. It was about in the middle of my first 2 experiences. Slightly dry but not as bad as previous and the flavor was present. The frosting was not as soft this time too. They are spendy so it's a tough decision on whether to buy more cupcakes just to see if they'll be that top tier bakery that they promote...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to Nadia Cakes in MG to get some of there daily cupcakes for a BD party. I love supporting local businesses and we we're excited to try NC for the first time. Overall we paid about $38 or 14 cupcakes so ~$2.71 per cupcake - (7) Salted Caramel and (7) Chai Pumpkin Spice. I was very dissapointed to say the least, as we were expecting so much more from a quality perspective, given the price. We've had other types of gourmet desserts (donuts, ice cream, cakes etc. Not to name names on a review of a "potential competitor") and from prior experience I was expecting NC to be right up there with the others, but sadly they were not š. The cupcakes were "ok" at best - the cupcake itself tasted "ok" but it was very dense and heavy and the frosting was overly sweet and very gritty. There was nothing to balance the sweetness so after a couple bites it was just too much to try for another bite. No one who ate the cupcakes finished them and we had 7 remaining after the party. I even asked my family for their feedback to make sure it wasn't just me and the results were unanimous. No one really liked the cupcakes. I was really surprised by our experience with the cupcakes, especially since there are so many raving reviews of NC, so I though this perhaps was an anomaly. I even did a little "research" on other reviews site. I think in general the consensus is that their cupcakes are great. However, I have found reviews that are in the 3-star and below range. To be fair I am willing to give NC another try perhaps in a post-Covid-19 environment. Part me wonders if some of the QA issue has to do with the challenges of running a small business during Covid-19. Perhaps this was just a fluke. Hopefully the second time around will be better than the first?!. On a positive note I must say that their customer service at the MG location when we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy son just moved over from MI and my daughter is leaving to serve our great country, so it was smart to buy a treat and V day just happen to fall on friday this year, so it was nice to get all the ducks in the pond. And bravo for Nadia cakes not upping her prices for the "holiday". The line moved fast for as busy as they were! The staff was super friendly, professional and proficient! Very proud of the customer service that was provided! (Nadia was smart to hook up w Sabastain Joe's ice cream! We will stop by for special occasions for both of these tasty treats! ) I have not had a bad cupcake here, even though some reviews state different. The icing is super sweet, so that's the only "downfall" but it's a cupcake so you cant really expect a mediocre frosting for a $3-4 cupcake. My new favs are chocolate covered strawberry and wedding cake. But I have to try others. I wasnt crazy about the brownie, but it's my own fault for not seeing "lemon frosting. " Everyone has different tastes so there is a fav flavor out there for everyone. For those who write out bad reviews for this store, remember you're paying for wages of many employees and if these cupcakes are "just as good" as the local grocery store, i dont see you or your grocery store on a nationwide food network , so obviously she is doing something a bit better than just being another novelity cupcake shop, with an excellent ice cream name standing right next to her. And if you believe that she wouldn't be as popular if there was a "competitor", I guess you better step it up and open one so she can "have" some competition. Perhaps just be glad she and her awesome staff puts MN on the map and be...
