We were staying at the hotel with our children so we had 2 rooms for a week. One day we had lunch service, food and atmosphere was lovely. The other night we ( my husband and myself, my daughter, her husband and their 2 children 2 1/2 and 7 year old )were tired after a full day out so we decided to eat in the hotel. When we went to the reception desk at the restaurant she ( this is on 10/17/ 25) she said there were no tables at that time and we need to wait 10 minutes. The restaurant was relatively empty so I assumed that they had sections closed. So we asked if we can order something at their beautiful fireplace area while we wait. She said no because of the servers wouldn’t be the same. We immediately asked to speak to someone else because it made no sense to be treated like that at the Ritz. The other person took care of us very nicely. We waited over 10 minutes and still was not called for a table. I inquired to the lovely man that was helping us if this section is closed because there was a table of 6 that was not occupied the whole time. He informed us that the table was available. We finally sat down. Our waitor was great. When we ordered our food we requested Brussels sprouts with no bacon. My daughter doesn’t eat any find of meat except fish and vegetables for 32 years and my husband and myself only eat poultry and fish. When the equator brought the Brussels sprouts over he assured us that there was no bacon. After we ate it my son in law who does eat bacon decided to eat from the Brussels sprout dish and informed us and the waiter that there is bacon. Our waiter was very upset. The gentlemen who helped us at the beginning took the Brussels sprouts off the bill. Our bill was over $500 ( which was extremely expensive for what we ate and how we were treated) and the service charge was $82.. I would rather starve then to eat in that...
Read moreIf you like loud obnoxious people dropping f-bombs than this is your place. There was a large group of people seated quite a few tables away from us in the patio are. They were so loud we could barely hear each other. We complained to the manager, Adam Weber who was useless. The table next to us also complained, as well as other tables. We had our daughter with us and we were quite embarrassed to have brought her to such a disgusting place. She could not believe the behavior of these grown adults. It was more like a bar than a restaurant.
Apparently the large group are locals and the restaurant caters to them. They could care less about hotel guests. Rather than have a talk with the large group about their fowl language and obnoxiously loud behavior the manager offered to move us away from our view table and seat us inside. He expected us to accommodate the large group rather than address their obnoxious behavior. That was not an option in our book. Their behavior was unacceptable on all levels and needed to be handled. It gets so much worse, but I am going to leave it right there. When our dinner arrived we decided that we had had enough. The managers poor handling of the situation literally drove us away. We got up and left our dinner on the table and we checked out of the Ritz Carlton. We checked into a lovely no-nonsense, professionally managed hotel in Beverly Hills that does not tolerate this ridiculousness. We will never return to this poorly run, low class establishment. This will go down as the worst Ritz Carlton restaurant that we have ever been to. The menu is also extremely limited. Nothing really impressive on the menu. We did enjoy the fried cauliflower and marinated olives. Other than that the menu fell short and was very...
Read moreEven though I live here in West LA I had family visiting town for an NFL game so they chose to stay at this MDR Ritz location. We decided to have Cast & Plow for dinner and then again for breakfast the following day before heading out. It is a beautiful location right on the water and you can view the docked boats during your entire meal. Outside seating on the patio has private seating with individual fire pits which I thought was a really nice touch. They don’t have a dedicated parking lot except for the hotel. It will be valet or you can park in the parking lot across the street and walk over. Our servers for both meals were very polite and all of our items came out quickly. I’m giving it a 4/5 because the flavors were good but not great. I have had better dining and other Ritz hotels domestically and around the world.
For my dinner I chose the Lamb Loin and the Seasoned Fries and thought both were pretty good. The Lamb Loin had a nice flavor and I especially enjoyed the zucchini mole which was a unique take on this dish for me. I felt the portion size was fair and overall it was pretty good. The next morning I had the Huevos Rancheros with upgraded Chorizo and thought it was fairly good however, they gave me a tiny amount of chorizo which paid extra for. The eggs were cooked perfectly and there was a lot of cheese and crunch, but thought it was a very small portion and I felt hungry afterwards.
Overall it is a nice option when staying at the hotel but I would not go out of my way for it if I wasn’t already staying there. I would suggest if you are visiting the hotel and want a convenient meal, however, most of the items on their menu you can get for room...
