Third Base Bar — Restaurant in Marquette

Rude, unwelcoming bartender. My boyfriend and I just moved to Marquette from out of state, and decided to check this place out after hearing nothing but good things. The bartender was rude from the beginning, and when she ID’ed us (we are 22/23, so I get it but what followed was not okay) she rolled her eyes at BOTH of our ID’s- as if they were fakes- became even more unfriendly, and loudly told her coworker to start checking IDs right when people come in the door. Then gave us both another look. The drinks were okay, but this made us so incredibly uncomfortable. This is a college/touristy town, so even if we hadn’t just moved here, is it really so odd to see someone from out of state??? Definitely agree with other reviews saying don’t come here unless you’re a regular. We slammed our drinks and left immediately....

Like the place, but one of the bartenders Julie who was also my daughter’s Spanish teacher at NMU has it in for her. Before Christmas my daughter went in to eat with some friends. She was the designated driver for the night. Julie made her go out in the car and wait for them because she wasn’t 21. My daughter turned 21 on December 28. Her and her friends went in again last night. I guess it’s cheap pitcher Thursday. The server checked everyone’s ID and was taking good care of them. Julie seen my daughter and started talking with her server and pointing and staring her way. My daughter’s friend overheard Julie say some negative things about my daughter. The short blonde girl and the older woman were super rude. Super belittling about the Michigan state law stating you can't bring drinks to the outside of the front of the bar. When I explained I didn't know and that I was sorry, they condescended to me, and said they dumped my drink after saying outside, "you can have it back when you come inside". Did not ID me upon arrival to begin with. Short blonde hid behind the bar from me when I asked to cash out and leave. No signage outside stating this is a law anyway. They were super condescending towards my LGBTQ+ identifying friend as well. Very homophobic undertones and bad vibes. Do not recommend at all and will be contacting the state liquor commission about the lack of ID...
