Great Burgers-Lots Of Opportunities
The good? The burgers for sure. Fresh, high quality meat, fresh tasty bun choices, well cooked (temps were perfect as ordered), quality ingredient options. All at a price though. If you build your own use a calculator because it can add up quickly. The fries were just okay. Perfectly cooked, but a typical skin on, modified food starch commercial fry. The beer offerings, as you’d expect, were expansive and created a good variety, although heavily skewed toward popular IPA’s and Sours. Our beers were delivered in clean and cold glassware. The restaurant was very clean and tidy. Staff were professionally dressed. The opportunities? The surroundings were fine, but nothing extraordinary. A trip to the bathroom requires walking back outside. One negative is there’s no booth seating, so the high tops might be uncomfortable for older patrons. The other area that can improve is service. Although the burgers were excellent, the prep time was lengthy (and the restaurant only had four tables seated during our visit). The person who seated us was unwilling to allow us to sit at a larger, more comfortable table (“because we’ll need those tables for larger parties” Reminder, place was mostly empty when we arrived, and only half full when we left). In our years of experience, always try to accommodate seating requests. Not here. The other service opportunity was our server. Slow, apathetic on guiding us through the menu, irritated with a request for a condiment, and did not smile or check back after food was delivered. But our server seemed to have plenty of time to laugh and chat with co-workers. So either an opportunity for better training, or hiring. When we left there were three employees at the front area, one offered a “bye”, while the other two continued with an intense personal conversation. We’ll definitely go back, because those burgers were very good. And we’ll see if the service issues were outliers or just the way things...
Read moreWow! Didn’t think the Moo&Brew experience that I’ve been enjoying for years at the Plaza Midwood location could have gotten any better. Visited the Matthews location late last week and was completely blown away by the service, atmosphere, and of course the incredible food at Moo & Brew’s newest location. From the moment I walked in the door I just felt good. From being greeted with a welcoming smile by the hostess, to the friendly server with all the latest technological features in hand to take my order accurately and quickly, to the incredibly delicious, high-quality/ample-quantity but very reasonably priced food, to the warm way I was greeted by the manager in passing as well as wrapping up my visit, getting my bill quick and being on my way, I just could not have been more impressed. The cool vibe and energy that this restaurant brand has brought to the Charlotte market so perfectly intertwines with the fun and energetic feel of downtown Matthews. You can tell the staff love working there- you almost want to just hang around to hang out with them in the cool, comfortable ambiance of the place. I can’t wait for the weather to warm up to experience the huge patio out back; it’s amazing to me that there is seating on all four sides of the building! Will definitely be making this a favorite regular spot to enjoy with my friends and family, visitors from out of town and even business meetings over a meal or drinks. Congrats- and THANK YOU- #Moo&Brew for your successful expansion in this great...
Read moreWe were looking forward to trying the Matthew‘s location, after having had good experiences at each of our visits to Central Avenue. It was a pretty big letdown. My advice would be to eat in the restaurant and not do a takeout order like we did. They told us the food would be ready in 25 minutes. I got there in 20 minutes and the food was already bagged up waiting for me at the front door. When I got home, the fries were cold and none of the sandwiches were fresh. We ordered a large coleslaw and I’ve enclosed a picture of it. It’s anything but large. When I went to pick it up, the hostess wanted me to look over the receipt to make sure it was right. I asked her about making sure everything was in the bag. Her name was Addison. She said she’s the one that took the order and she made sure everything was in it, so I didn’t check it at the restaurant. when I got back to the house, my granddaughter didn’t have her sweet potato fries. When we dug into the burgers, they were not done at all. My wife and daughter disassembled their burgers so they could microwave the patties to finish the cooking process. I tried to tough it out, but finally had to quit eating mine. A picture of that’s attached as well. All in all, it was $100 well spent, because now I know to steer clear of...
