Update 6/16/25:
It’s official, this gem of a restaurant is gone, and guess who took over? Sheldon Simeon.
Don’t get me wrong, his food is good but it was nice to have a different style and on top of that the original restaurant was affordable. I have no doubt prices will be set accordingly, especially with Sheldon’s name attached to the establishment.
If Justin and Kaimana see this (original chefs of hui kitchen) please open your own location one day.
Original review:
All I can say is unreal.
Tucked away in Wailuku at the old inn. You’re greeted by the hostess where you also order your food. You can either take a seat inside or outside and they’ll bring it out to you. The kitchen is serviced by two brothers, Justin and Kaimana.
Ordered the ahi katsu and a side of fries. Quality and presentation were blown to say the least. It’s been a very long time since I’ve been impressed by a restaurant on Maui. They’re either too expensive with ok food, or good food with astronomical prices. This sits at the top with excellent food at a fair price.
Looking forward...

It's tucked away in a quiet part of Wailuku and has a beautiful courtyard with outdoor tables. A perfect laid back spot for a freshly prepared lunch. I got the ahi katsu and the musubi for lunch and they were unreal grinds. $8 for 6 huge handrolled musubi is an unbelievable deal and the ahi katsu must have been double fried or something because the crust was super crunchy and the fish perfectly rare. I had to get the poke of the week and the garden salad for sunset dinner. Major props...
Read moreHaving followed Chef Justin's career the last few years, his food never disappoints. His blend of flavors and presentation while remaining consistent to his roots and influences, truly is reflected in each dish. The setting of the historic Wailuku Inn makes the whole experience one that will be unforgettable. Surrounding by greenery and a grassy area, it's an exceptional place to have a date, take a lunch break, have a business meeting or holoholo with the 'Ohana. I highly recommend the Kalbi short ribs as my favorite dish so far and I can't wait for my next opportunity to try a...
