After a few disappointing Maui restaurant experiences, I was very careful about where to spend our celebratory wedding anniversary meal. On the last night of our trip, we chose Pacific'o. With such fantastic reviews, we brought our family of four to this charming, romantic, and mind-blowing restaurant. Let me tell you, Pacific'o not only met our expectations, they far exceeded them. First, the location. Our table rested on the patio where string lights complimented the sunset that hung over the ocean horizon, which felt just steps away because it was. Book this place around 5pm as this was just one of the many highlights here, watching the sun set over the ocean as the string lights come on. As we arrived at our table, we were welcomed to a charming celebratory note card and offered complimentary champagne for adults and a spritzer for the kids. I often feel as though kids are forgotten at higher end restaurants, but Pacific'o did a wonderful job making my kids feel just as important as the adults. I just hope they don't get used to such wonderful service back home! The service. Attentive, informative, kind, and patient are just a few words for our server. From food and wine, siggestions to taking our family photo on the gorgeous photo spot, our server was truly incredible. Next, the food. Everyone loved their meal. I repeat, everyone (including the 7 and 9 year old) loved their food. To put in direct quotes from the 7 year old, "The Brussel spouts tasted like heaven." I don't know what magic they are doing here, but whatever it is, it's working! Everything is farm to table, which meant my mahi mahi was mouthwatering, the fresh homemade pasta from the kids' menu was addicting, and the lamb was tender and craveable. This meal was more than a meal. It was an incredible experience that fostered our often limited time together. Thank you Pacific'o for creating more than a fantastic meal for our family. You've created a...
Read moreThis is the most exquisite dining experience I have EVERY had anywhere is in my travels EVER!!!! They called me twice before I was even on Island to ask about my allergies. Then again, twice to check exactly what you can eat and to tell me that the Chef is making me a special meal! I told her, (I learned later she was the hostess) that that was not necessary and I would eat what it could as usual. She would not have any of that. When I arrived, the outstanding hostess( I need her name and will get it when I go back) came to tell me the chef is making you a special appetizer! I told her, (I learned later she was the hostess) that that was not necessary and I would eat what I could as usual. She would not have any of that. When I arrived, the outstanding hostess( I need her name and will get it when I go back) came to tell me the chef is making you a special appetizer! Again, I told her that was not necessary. Then another wonderful young lady came over to check on me, who was the hostess who I had talked to on the phone. A little later, another awesome young man came to check on me and make sure the food was to my liking. I was so overwhelmed with all the attention. I was with the Manpower group of about 30 people. The dessert was delicious and I loved the fresh sorbet! So, then at the end, I asked the waitress to please thank the Chef for me and how grateful I was for the over and above treatment I received. She then said just a minute and she went a got him!!!! Lo and behold, he was the gentleman that had come to check on me earlier. He had on all black and not white, so I didn’t know he was the Chef!!!! I am in love with this restaurant and it is now my favorite Ever and on Maui and anywhere! We will be eating there again in May!! I am bringing friends and I have been telling everyone about my FANTASTIC experience!!! Thank you so very much! Every bite was so delicious and beautiful...
Read moreLet me just start by saying that the food and drinks were excellent. Fair prices for farm-to -table dinning on Maui. Portions were large for fine dinning and the menu had a lot of interesting options.
The reason I’m leaving 3 stars is due to the service. Everyone was nice but at over $100 a head, I do expect a certain level of professionalism. We had a 6:15 reservation and we specially chose that time so we could be seated with drinks for the sunset. We checked in at 6:10 and then again at 6:30. We were sat at 6:35, just after the sunset. As the host sat us she apologized for the wait but then continued to explain that the delay was to ensure the servers had enough time between tables being sat, etc and then she was really adamant about us sitting in the same side of the table. Which we thought was strange.
Our server was nice and knowledgeable. However, when it was clearly time for the check she asked us on three separate occasions if we wanted coffee or anything else. We would say no thank you, then she would leave. Eventually we had to ask for the check.
Lastly, I feel there is something else worth mentioning. When we made the reservation, it asked if we were celebrating anything special. We wrote that we were on Maui for our honeymoon. When we checked in with the host she clearly saw the note and said “Oh, it’s your honeymoon?” No congratulations or anything like that. But just made a note of confirming it with us. The server did not say anything nor did we receive anything special, comped desert, nothing. I understand that many people come to Maui for their honeymoon and maybe the restaurant can’t give something nice to all of these couples. But if that’s the case, do no ask during the reservation booking process and train your staff not to mention anything when they check in. Pretty disappointing considering this was our romantic dinner...
