Corner Bakery Cafe — Restaurant in McAllen

No stars for this location! I went over for lunch with my coupon which stated free desert with the purchase of a combo when showing it to the cashier (Emily A) she just glanced at the coupon and just saw free desert and was obviously disgruntled looking at me like if i was asking for charity and said OK you cannot have morning desert or this desert or that desert, I laughed and said well that basically wears down all the options so she honored the fudge brownie and said OK what else, I told her that its free with the purchase of a combo she looked at the coupon again and said O OK what do you want? It was my first time at this establishment so I was trying to find the best options from the menu and she just kept rushing us what do want what do you want and rolling her eyes. So i had no choice than to choose quickly just one combo. My husband was with me but since she looked so upset of having to take our order we only got one combo we sure did not want to ruin her day more by asking for a second combo. The treatment by the cashier ( Emily A) was so disrespectful and totally a lack of customer service. We went to get our drinks and grab a table, a while later our order came which we had to share but no fudge brownie so we finished our meal and went back to the cashier station when another young lady attended to us and I gave her the receipt and told her I did not get my fudge brownie she rolled her eyes and got the brownie and put it in the bag and extended her hand gave it to me while at the same time looking at another person and having a conversation. I will never visit the Corner Bakery every again the food was very good but the personal is what gives you...

I think it's really sad how the employee went about things in a rude manner when she had to heat the broccoli cheese soup again, saying 'ugh I just put the soup in the ice... Now I have to get it out and heat it up, I guesss I'll just take it out again and make you some' as she rolled her eyes with the most hateful attitude. She was a pretty girl, but her attitude was not to die for. I can't see myself coming to this Corner Bakery again, for someone like me, it was truly an experience that gives your anxiety, anxiety! Moral of the story.. If you are at work, be polite to your customers, you don't have to like them, you don't have to suck up to them, just smile and be nice, because you never know who's having a bad day, who's dying, who lost someone dear to them, who's been thinking of hurting themselves or hurting someone else.. You just never know! Obviously I didn't expect her, a total stranger, to know about my health, cancer, surgeries etc.. but I wasn't going to say a word about it just to then get an attitude change out of her when she should have been kind to us, her nice customers to begin with! Trust me, being nice goes a long way, for the bitter hearts and the sick ones like myself... If you are having a bad day at work, make convo with your customers, I love talking and laughing with the people behind the counters wherever I shop, life is too short for some of us!!! it's a mood booster to meet nice people, and you never know maybe customers will have words that will make your...

Their food is excellent. Always fresh and flavorful. However, I am giving them 2 stars at this location because of my last experience.

This past Friday, Oct. 27, I was heading home and I was going to pick up something to eat. I was rushing a bit to make sure I made it before they closed. I had 10 minutes to spare, so I walked in happy at the idea of getting a good meal. That’s when the girl behind the counter said they shut down their stove and cold sandwiches or salad was the only thing available.

What kind of place shuts down their stove before they actually close? They should just change their operation hours to show they close when they turn the stove off. I was upset, but I didn’t show anger since I do t know if the decision to shut down early was due to the managements orders or employees just wanting to cut corners and leave early.

After leaving I realized I wasted time Whig prevented me from getting food at other similar establishments that also closed at 10pm. I had to settle for fast food which is not what I wanted at all.

Just FYI for anyone interested from this location, I’m sure you have store cameras. I was the guy that came in at 9:50pm wearing the jeans and denim jacket.

I recommend at least posting to the public that hot food isn’t available after a certain time or at least to change the hours of the place so we don’t waste time.
