I can’t say enough good things about my experience last night at Mac G’s!!! I was hosting a baby shower for one of my dearest friends. Even making reservations for the event was a good experience. It’s hard to plan attendees and know how many people will come. Hannah, made me feel so comfortable over the phone. I planned for 20 guests but she didn’t make me feel pressured, if more or less came. She made me feel okay regardless of turnout, like it wouldn’t be a problem at all. It was to be held on a Thursday night and she said we could have the back of restaurant all to ourselves. I was so relieved.
From the moment I arrived, everyone opened doors, offered to help me carry decorations and cake from my car. I was first to arrive, and started decorating by myself. A sweet lady came over and offered her assistance with anything and everything. Little did I know it was Hannah, the AM service manager. LOL. I had her helping me with tedious tasks…she busted out her own tape and scissors. She helped me decorate tables, place settings, backdrop, cake table, gift table, thank you table. LOL. She helped me with everything!! I would not have been able to have finished on time without her. I was so grateful. It was then, she told me who she was and entrusted the rest of the evening to PM manager, Mario. And same thing! Really good attention to our needs. Miranda and Christian were our servers. They were both amazing! Miranda, especially, seemed sweet and sincere in conversation. They provided excellent service and were very attentive, professional and friendly. They did not even make us feel uncomfortable about separate checks x20!!! They acted like it was no big deal but to me…. That’s a huge deal! They were super nice about it and said it would not be a problem. Everyone said good things about the food. Good portions, great flavors. And when it was all done, Mario and staff helped carry all of our things back to our vehicles and offered help with everything.
Top notch customer service!!! Epitome of above and beyond. Thank you Mac G’s for making my friend’s day even more...
Read moreI visited the Macaroni Grill yesterday on 3/4/22. Went there to treat my parents out to their 49th Wedding Anniversary. So I'm giving it 3 stars for just a couple of reasons. Their staff was friendly but, forgetful! Took 3 different servers to get one order correct. The atmosphere was nice and cozy no complaints there. Now the major reason I am writing this review. I used to be a chef. I went to a culinary school and have cooked many different cultural dishes before and still do. So I understand that a staple in traditional Italian cooking is the use of oils. Understanding how to use oils properly is an important factor. Example: I order their mozzarella triangle because that's the shape they came in the the dipping sauce accompanying them was so drowned in oil that it prevented the sause from being dippable and a pain to scoop it too as oil is slippery. The mozzarella bites themselves were presented quite nicely but they were bland. The breading was nice and crispy but had no seasoning, not even a little saltiness. The stuffed mushrooms we order were very good though. As for the main dishes they were not hot when they were brought to the table they were warm at best. Not good at all especially when you order a nice big 12oz ribeye like I did. I was cooked decently but, their chefs don't understand what the steak should look like at the different cooking levels of meat. I doubt they check the meat before it goes out to the customer. I ordered a medium-well. The cut should mostly be cooked with a little pink on the inside with a very little blood remaining on top if any at all. My medium-well came out looking like a medium with enough blood on top to call it a medium-rare. They put too much oil while cooking their pasta and it's very to tell because the sauce runs off the pasta. At least while cooking pasta don't use oil. Only water and stir often to prevent the pasta from sticking together. This place looks nice but for the cost of the food they serve it is not...
Read moreWe went to the McAllen Texas restaurant on Valentines Day at 4:30 in order to beat the rush. There were a few tables seated but they weren’t busy at all. When we came in, we were seated and after about 20 minutes, a waitress finally came over and asked if we had been waited on. That was problem 1.We said no. She apologized and said no one told her she was to be our waitress but she would be right back. We ordered an appetizer, meal and drinks. Finally our salads came out brought by a different waiter. We had ordered blue cheese dressing from the first waitress but the waiter who brought the salads informed us they don’t have blue cheese dressing on their menu! We said ok, we’ll have vinegrette. That was error 2-/the first waitress apparently didn’t know what salad dressings they had. Next, our first waitress brought out our chicken/pasta artichoke dishes. She said there was an error that they were extremely busy —we told her they didn’t seem busy and looked around at all the empty tables in our dining room—there weren’t 8 tables filled in the whole restaurant. We asked about the appetizer. She said it wasn’t ready yet. We said we’d like to have it before our meal. She said she had to leave the meals in the table but if they got cold, she’d have the kitchen remake them. 15 mins passed with no additional service from the waitstaff. and we got the bruschetta appetizer. A third waitress brought it out. She left. We wanted some parm cheese to go w the appetizer but nope—no waitress around—good luck getting that!! We finally ate the cold food too! Needless to say, our experience was s disaster from the moment we walked in. I used to eat at Romano’s macaroni Grill in Tulsa but it went out of business a few years back so I had been looking forward to eating here! We paid and got...
