Our first time at Hideaway Pizza in McKinney, but let me tell youāwe are longtime, die-hard fans! šā¤ļø We practically lived at Hideaway when we were residents in Oklahoma City, during the first 5-6 years of our marriage. šš„° It was our go-to spot, our date night favorite, and a place packed with so many memories. When my wifeās job brought us back to Texas, we were absolutely over the moon to see Hideaway make its way here too! šš This place is, without a doubt, one of our familyās favorite pizza joints of all time! šØāš©āš§š½ļø
But for me, this isnāt just another pizza nightāitās a homecoming. š”ā¤ļø I was born and bred in Dallas but spent most of my childhood growing up in Little Elm, TX. š¤ I met my amazing wife on eHarmony š back when she was living in Oklahoma City. So for me, Hideaway Pizza is more than just great foodāitās a piece of the place that brought us together. Coming home to Texas and finding Hideaway here too? That just makes it feel even more like home. šš
And now, we get to share that love with our daughter. š¼š Since moving back to Texas, our firstborn is Texas bred and raised like her daddy, and sheās already a huge foodie just like her mama and me. š¤©š½ļø Tonight, she and my wife shared slices of pizza together, and even though sheās only 10 months old, she was all in! šš Watching her enjoy it made the night even more specialājust another reason Hideaway will always be one of our favorites!
Itās nights like these that become the dough we knead into the pizza of our lives, shaping the memories that define us. Each slice, each laugh, each shared moment is another ingredient in the recipe of our familyās journey. š As we build and leave a legacy with our daughter, so too does Hideaway Pizza bake its own legacy into our story. These are the memories weāll savor, knowing theyāve been a part of our lives for years to come. And if one night of enjoying pizza together can leave such an impact, imagine how many other legacies Hideaway Pizza is craftingāone pizza, one family, one slice at a time. š
Another special thing is that in just slightly over a month, my wife and I will celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary on April 25, 2025. šš„ And then, just a day over another month, our baby girl turns 1 on May 25, 2025. šš¶ These milestones make nights like these even more meaningful, as we reflect on our journey together and look forward to all the incredible memories still to come.
Now, letās talk pizza. We had the Yardbird, which is BBQ sauce, chicken, and onionsāabsolute š„! We left off the cilantro, though. I personally love cilantro, but my wife? Not so much. And thatās okayāeveryone has different tastes, and pizza is all about customizing it to make it your own! šāØ
And what made this visit even more special was the phenomenal service! šš Our server, Nichole, was an absolute rockstarāgenuinely kind, welcoming, and so attentive. šš« She had such a warm energy that instantly made us feel like valued guests, not just customers. š Plus, she rocked her glasses š¤ and ball cap š§¢ like a pro, all while serving with the kind of enthusiasm thatās rare to find these days. Her upbeat vibe made our entire experience even more memorable and enjoyable! šš„
To Nicholeās bossesāpay attention! š This woman deserves recognition, a bonus, the works! š°š Great service like this isnāt just appreciatedāitās what keeps people coming back. Her outstanding service is more than just about making a great experience; itās the kind of thing that builds long-lasting loyalty. The kind of loyalty that keeps customers coming back time and time again and creates a bond with the brand. Itās like the magic Pizza Hut had in the 90s or the loyalty Disney has earned across generations. Nichole embodies the ideals that make people want to returnānot just for the pizza but for the experience, the connection, and the brand itself.
Between the legendary pizza, the top-tier service from Nichole, and the nostalgia of our OKC days, this visit was nothing short of amazing. Weāll 1000% be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe walked into Hideaway on a Thursday with a party of 10 (4 adults, 6 kids) at 8:20pmāthey close at 9:30pm. We waited about 10-15 minutes before we were sat on the upstairs patio. I canāt say we were āgreetedā by our server because he approached our table after another 10 or 15 minutes of waiting with, āWhat can I get for you?ā No actual greeting, no mention of his nameāpretty bad considering both my wife and I served tables for 10 years in our 20āsā¦we know better. He took our entire order on his first visit to our table and went to the computer station to put our order in. While we were waiting, I noticed a nearby table that was sat around the same time as us order their food, eat, and pay their bill before we even received our food. At this point it was 9:25, so I went to the upstairs bartender to let them know weāve been there since 8:20 and we still havenāt been served our food. Shortly after, our food came outāminus the buffalo wings we orderedāand we were told a manager would be visiting our table. To be honest, the pizza was good, but we were never visited by a manager. Our bill didnāt reflect the wings we didnāt receive, but I would have thought something else would have been done on our bill to make up for the terrible serviceā¦at least I would have asked my manager to do SOMETHING when I was a server to keep our patrons satisfied. This didnāt happen tonight. I usually am one to tip 25-30%, but tonight I tipped $8 on a $109 dollar bill. The server was lucky he got that much, because I was pretty upset when I left. We order Hideaway about once a week, and last week our service was subpar, too. Iām going to Cadillac Pizza and Barroās Pizza from now on. Do better Hideaway, you lost us for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been to the Plano location and had great experiences. However, tonight at the McKinney location I had an unpleasant experience. I understand it was a Friday evening and busy. But our server, Gaby was very forgetful of us and also very short and walked off on us mid conversation. We had our food delivered and immediately asked for ranches for each of us. I understand with the rush of customers on a Friday if she had forgotten about it. But after waiting 45 minutes and asking three more times. She would continue to walk past us and not check in or ask how we were doing, we just felt very unwelcoming. Later, a party of 15 showed up in her section, with this being after we have been waiting 45 minutes for her to bring ranch. She immediately serves the table and is asking how many ranches they want. We were baffled as they were right behind us. So after she finished taking the parties order she walked by and I said ā excuse me can we get our ranches nowā to which she replied ā yes sorry ā she came back out with one ranch. My friend asked for the check and a to go box and while she was asking for our second ranch, Gaby walked off. We got our box and then decided to approach another staff member named Jessie, we asked her for a ranch and she was quick and happy to help! Gaby then walked by us about three more times while Jessie helped us. Needless to say, the atmosphere and food was great! But our experience was ruined by the lack of attention from our...
