Wish Google had half stars... This was our first visit to this local (to us) restaurant and I guess I had high hopes for it. I gave it four stars as I think things will get better.
It took a bit for our waitress to come to the table, we had two other waiters come by and tell us that they were not sure who had our table, but someone would be here soon. Our waitress was very friendly and did provide great service to us, but perhaps they were a bit new and overloaded though it was not overly busy. We ordered our appetizers and drinks but please leave a bar code on the table if you expect us to us to use it for draft beer selections. Our waitress gave us her bar code to review the drafts, but good they were descriptive, but when you have a ton of taps, simplify the list, and group by type of beer/taste (IPA, Lager, Stout, or hoppy, clean, citrus etc.).
Our pretzels came out and they were very good, hot and fresh. They came with cheese dip, and I asked if they had mustard and what was provided was packet yellow mustard. Please get some decent spicy brown / pub mustard to serve with the pretzels.
We ordered a pretty standard pizza and other dishes, all were good but the pizza is nothing to write home about. It was "ok" but not pizza place good. Additionally our to-go order that was to be ordered or come out alter came out first. Three orders came out quickly, and the fourth (a chicken sandwich) came out 10m later. Fries could have been cooked a bit more, but were "ok".
Again our waitress was great, and very friendly. No fault to her... Staff who brought our food were also very friendly and always asked if we needed anything.
All in all, "ok"... if I need a place to grab a draft it's a good place to go. Bar service may be better. Food is "ok". Finally the front desk and host station was a hang out for friends of the hosts it seems as our check came with no pen, and I had to wait for host as the friends were all over the front desk.
This place is new, and I am hoping with time it gets better because McKinney needs a good pizza/bar place with atmosphere.
Update 2023- been open for a while we have tried it twice. Food not much better, pizza needs to be better or stop calling it a pizza place. Good taps for beer. Cable is out for sports, but showing cute French Bulldog videos...
Read moreI took my family in to have dinner, as we have done a few times here. We like the pizza and most everything we’ve tried at Parry’s. Wasn’t a busy night, I believe it was a Tuesday. Place is usually clean for the most part, but like most food places of this price point, if you look closely, you’ll find stuff you don’t want to. Someone had smeared a hand of pizza sauce on the wall beside our table. I can see how it was missed, but every now and again the chairs and tables/booths need a thorough cleaning. Pull them out and wipe down the walls. We got our drinks pretty quick, and as I was about to take a drink, I noticed something in my cup. Now, stay with me here folks… you remember when your kids were small and gross? Like while eating greasy food, they’d get a drink from their cup and leave oil/grease in the cup floating on top of the liquid… this just happens to be one of my personal pep-peeves, but I never look for it at a restaurant, because only I’m drinking from my cup, and in all the years I’ve spent dining I’ve never had this happen before. I’m a laid back, easy going fella, I’m reasonable… and I always give the benefit of the doubt, maybe to a fault. So I figure, there’s a few ways this has happened, 1.) the cup was stored open side up, and oil in the air settled inside. From a food safety standpoint, I don’t think any restaurant stores cups this way. 2.) the server accidentally slipped their greasy finger into the cup, gross, but stuff happens. 3.) the cup was not washed well, or was washed without soap… I explained to the server the issue with my drink, and she looks at me like I’m crazy, and ARGUES that she can’t see anything in my drink. I mean, who cares if you see it or not, getting a new cup for a patron should be done upon request without question. I was a little thrown off after the waitress exchange, but I shook it off quickly. She brings back another drink for me… this one is either the same exact cup/drink or another dirty cup… so I’m able to show the server the glistening oil on top of my drink with the help of my cell phone flashlight this time. She again acts like I’m putting her out requesting a clean cup… and then, strike three, third drink still had oil floating on top, I just left it on the table, untouched. This was months ago, we haven’t...
Read moreFirst time here. And ill be back for sure. Walked in and was greeted immediately. Was dinning alone, so I was offered a seat at the bar or booth or table. I opted for a table. Mind you this a taphouse. Definitely taphouse vibes. If you are here for a quiet dinning experience, this is not the place for you. While I sat in the dinning area you can hear the TVs from the bar along with the music in the dining area. Wasn't an issue for me since I was listening to the game with one ear and jamming out to the music with the other. Just as I began to find myself comfortable in my seat, Jaime quickly greeted me and took my drink order and offered an appetizer. I proceeded to explain it was my first visit, so without asking, she offered her favorite item, and an overall popular item. I chose a personal favorite item which was neither of what she had recommended. I chose their version of a cheesestick. It was a half moon slice of mozzarella which they call "uptown mozzarella" and it was paired with their delicious marinara sauce. I followed my appetizer with a Ceasar salad, which was quite traditional but above traditional flavor. Will try it with chicken next time. I also had the "Zesty Lady Liberty" which is a pepperoni pizza topped with parmesan mix before going into the oven. Was a nice crisp touch to the top if the pizza. Oh and I added Italian sausage to my pizza. If you enjoy a crisp thin crust style pizza. You will definitely enjoy their crust. I really wanted to try their fried dough for dessert but just had no room. Next time. So if you've driven by and seen the place, stop and ask for Jaime for great service...
