Average mexican restaurant. Portions are great which is really nice but the quality was nothing special. Customer service is inconsistent; great from some waiters but terrible from others.
I ordered tacos and my wife order a tostada (with no cheese or sour cream and explained she had an allergy to dairy). The waiter guaranteed that he would make sure that no dairy touches her meal.
However, both our meals had cross-contamination from other ingredients found in the kitchen. For me personally, it wasn't a big deal (I have no food allergies) but it did make eating my tacos distracting and unappealing.
However since there was cheese in my wife's meal, she was unable to continue eating her meal. This was a huge let down and was down-right embarrassing for us when I tried to get my wife's order removed from our bill.
I had to ask 4 times and the waiter said yes each time but then she came back blank-faced and handed me our check with my wife's meal still on our bill. Our bill was eventually settled but the whole ordeal was a lot more complicated and unprofessional than it should have been.
Place was also empty for lunch.
Overall, great portions, ok food taste, excellent & terrible...
Read moreThe wait staff is very attentive but the food was not good. We are Mexican food "junkies" and this was one of the worst meals I have had. We ordered the sauteed mushrooms in garlic and butter. It was so salty and had so much butter that there was a lake of butter on the plate. We also got fish tacos and camerones ala crema. The fish was so dry. I took 2 bites and couldn't eat it. My husband took one bite and spit it out. If he won't eat it then I consider it unedidible. The camerones ala crema had the flavor of hot dogs. Seriously not joking. He also got a burrito and it wasn't supposed to be smothered in any sauce, however it showed up smothered with what looked to be canned tomatoes. I ordered a margarita and it was watered down and didn't even taste like they put tequila in. We didn't hardly eat anything because the food was gross. Paid over $100 for one of the worst meals and left basically our full plates of food there. Didn't even want to feed...
Read moreEDIT - due to a fire that completely destroyed the building, Las Palmas has re-opened at 1501 Sage Rd, Medford, OR 97501 (across from the mill). Their Jacksonville location is being rebuilt and they will re-open in mid to late 2024. I eat dinner here about once each month. This is as authentic as any Mexican food that I have had in San Diego, LA, and Mexico! Generous portions (The #4 carnitas burrito will feed you for 2 days), fresh and made to order (hot plate!), Luis tries to say hello to every dinner-time customer; he and his extended family are gracious hosts. Service can be a little slow if a party of 12 can't make up their mind between the fish taco plate or the enchiladas - nobody is rushed. Outdoor patio for summertime margaritas. Parking in front of the currently shuttered lumber yard right next door, or the new parking lot between 4th and...
