I stopped here while passing through and had a good sandwich. The place is a little different than your standard Italian deli. Parking is limited and the surrounding one way streets and traffic make it challenging to get back on the freeway. The first thing the owner said was, āDid you already order online?ā Umm, no I didnāt. āIt will be up to a half hour wait. Do you still want to order?ā This might be the worst greeting ever, and I almost left, but was hungry and didnāt want to waste more time finding another place. The sandwiches are served open flat and toasted well done. There seemed to be an emphasis on spicy ingredients which I canāt eat for health reasons. At one point the owner jokingly told a guy who was clearly on his first date with a woman, āYou donāt know how to eat,ā referring to his sandwich choice. -A colorful comment from a gal with lots of personality. My sandwich was good and quite filling. I think I got a Cherry Pepsi which was in the can. I think this place is famous locally and you are supposed to appreciate that and the unique offering and personality. I like my sandwiches closed up and not toasted so it was not my favorite. But might be great if you like that type of sandwich and experience. On the way out of the parking lot there were some drug addicts overdosing on Fentanyl, but that is just...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI get that this place has been around forever and it's nostalgic for many. Maybe this was an off day, but we won't be going back to find out.
Been wanting to try this place for a couple of years. We finally stopped in and ordered two pastrami sandwiches. One regular size with pickles and one large without pickles. We drove home and my husband's large had my pickles. He can't stand pickles and drove 24 minutes back to the shop to get his money back. Needless to say he was not happy. The woman working said he was rude when he gave her the sandwich and asked for his money back. She then said the ticket said the large was supposed to have pickles. Word of advice, don't tell your customer they are wrong when you're the one that wrote it down wrong. It just pissed him off more. She doesn't want us back and we won't be going back.
As for my sandwich that I ordered with pickles and got none, I was not impressed. It was loaded with mustard and onions. I could barely taste the pastrami.
Finally the place was dirty and a bunch of guys just sitting around in front and behind...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI ate it to bits, an ultimate garbage with pepperoncinis. A lot of flavor though there was a few sudden pockets of pepper, almost like red pepper or black pepper? Not a terrible experience alongside everything else in the sandwich, packed and oven roasted. It's very much like a supreme calzone without the extra cheese and with their signature sauce. The hot sandwiches are best for people with patience and time, they're a real and proper meal in their own. Otherwise you may have a mess, as I ended up with. The sandwiches need time to rest and cool off. I'm tempted to go back for the cold sandwiches, I'm guessing that would be a better experience for me personally, who only has a little time in Medford to eat. On a common weekday it wasn't too busy at all. They take time to cook, I think they're on a prep and oven belt system, meaning it takes a good few minutes to actually pass through. Go here when you have time, get the sandwiches and go to a park with picnic tables and relax, take your time. Do it right and you'll have one of the best sandwiches...
