First off I will say that Newks on Poplar has always been a nice place to go. The food is awesome and the dining area is always clean and accommodating.
Last night though, it was different.
We arrived here at about 6:55 and went inside and ordered. After we ordered we sat down and waited for our order to come like always. Instead of brining it to the table, they called our order out and I went up front to pick it up. The associate handed me a bag of food and turned around and walked away. We thought this was odd but didn't think much of it. We then noticed them turning people away and locking the front door. It was 7:15, they are open till 8. They usually stay open till 8:00 PM, per the website. We discussed this and continued eating and about 5 min later, loud music comes from the kitchen. We had to raise our voices to hear each other sitting at the same table. Then, about 5 min after that, one of the employees walks to the table and asks for our trash. We weren't done eating nor we were ready to go. This was as if they were hurrying us out of there. I asked the employee were they closing, they show to close at 8. He stated that this was a slow night for them, they are closing early.
If your establishment is closing earlier that communicated, let your customers know when they order. Not after they start their meal. Also, Don't hurry someone out of the place just because you decided to close early and don't have the wherewithal to make sure your customer knows that when they walk in. This was a very bad experience and I doubt it will be...
Read moreI used to eat here at least once a week, but the prices have gotten so high that it's very rare I go there. I haven't been feeling well and was so excited to see that there was Chicken Noodle soup there today. I got a bowl for myself as well as for my boss. Picked up the almost $8 bowl of soup and brought it back to the office. The first bite tasted very different. Then my boss came up to me and asked me if my soup tasted funny because hers did. It tasted almost fishy. I called up there and was told by the female who answered to bring it back up there. So, I drove back up there with the soup. The guy who was at the togo register looked annoyed with me as soon as he saw me. When I explained everything to him he said "So what? You want your money back or what?" No. I hadn't eaten in all day and just wanted chicken noodle soup. He says "I mean, I don't know why you brought it back. I'm just going to throw it away".... Ok...? No apology, nothing. Then he says "No one else has said anything about the soup today..."?!?! Do you think I wanted to drive all the way back up here for nothing?! SO incredibly rude. Will not be returning. P.S. A man who I assumed to be the manager was standing there, looked over his shoulder, and carried on. Not a word during the...
Read moreFood is good. Always clean. Excessivley busy at lunch (11:00 to 12:45) Monday thru Friday and around 11:30 on Sundays; which its normal to be busy however you can barely walk to your table or hear your friend across from you. It is a little pricey for the amount of food you get; however, it has a much better "quantity and quality per dollar" ratio than McAlisters by a landslide. Salads are the best bang for your buck in my opinion and the Tea (sweet AND unsweetened) always tastes fresh and is well balanced in strength. PLUS THEY GIVE YOU A STRONG PLASTIC REUSABLE CUP SO YOU CAN STORE PENS AND PENCILS ON YOUR OFFICE DESK!! Or you could save them over a period of time and give them away as a wedding gift that will perfectly match the China set that will never get used, and everything except the 47 Black Newks cups will be destroyed by their future kids; leaving YOUR THOUGHTFUL gift as the only locatable and/or surviving physical momento from their wedding day, exept for the foegotten inedible peice of cake. So go to Newk's so you can get cups and achieve your ultimate goal to finally be remembered and loved by someone other than your mom and dad. Eat well, live well, get Free Cups and...
