I recently had the unfortunate experience of trying the birria at Michi tacos in Menifee, and I must say, it was a complete disappointment. The first issue I encountered was the false advertisement surrounding the dish. The menu boasted about the amazing flavors and juiciness of the birria, but it was far from the truth. Upon receiving my order, I was immediately taken aback by the lack of juice in the meat. The birria was dry and lacked any sort of succulence that is expected from this traditional Mexican dish. It was as if all the flavor had been sucked out, leaving behind a bland and unappetizing piece of meat. The false advertisement didn't stop there. The menu described the birria as a flavorful and aromatic dish, but what I received was anything but that. The meat lacked any distinct taste or aroma, making it a forgettable and unremarkable experience. To make matters worse, the lack of juice in the meat made it incredibly difficult to enjoy. Birria is supposed to be a rich and flavorful dish, with the meat practically melting in your mouth. However, this birria was tough and dry, making each bite a chore rather than a pleasure. Overall, my experience with this birria was extremely disappointing. The false advertisement surrounding the dish, coupled with the lack of juice in the meat, made for a lackluster and unenjoyable meal. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic and delicious birria experience. Definitely do not order out because the trip to pick it up and bring it home will be a slap in the face.

A huge thing that brought my now fiancé and I together was our love and passion for food. A few days ago he mentioned a taco shop he just found out about that seems to have good birria. The name I found to be catchy and loved it 😅 the pictures were beautiful! Today we finally found the time to sneak away for lunch and I’m glad we did. It was awesome inside, like in the pictures. The Frida Kahlo mural is STUNNING. She’s such an inspiration. We knew immediately we wanted to shared the quesa birria plate. It comes with 3 large sized quesa birria tacos and a container of consume. They are not stingy with any of the ingredients, it’s a beautiful thing. My fiancé loves tripa tacos and doesn’t have the easiest time finding one that’s made with that amazing crunch. The service was incredible. The gentleman at the counter was so nice, the server was kicking a** with the orders and being so sweet at the same time. The tripa taco was the star of our lunch! It was so delicious, crunchy, such a good size. I LOVE birria with my heart and soul and wish I could say I loved this one how it is. It lacked something. Salt maybe? It just needed something more. I added lime and salsa, the consume of course. But, that is just me. All in all though, I’ll be back. The jamaica is delicious, not too tart and not too sweet. The addition to add chamoy and/or tajin I found to be awesome!!

Went on a Sunday night. A prior review made me be sure to look out for problematic decorations that exceeded food. What a relief. The shrimp taco was the size of my hand which was definitely less than the decorations on the wall. Problem averted. Then I remembered to look out for food that wasn’t ready the instant I paid. Then I remembered this isn’t fast-food, so my 20 minute wait for non-fast-food was totally reasonable. Oh and then my biggest fear. Nachos that were messy. I ordered them anyway crossing my fingers. Service was friendly and competent. The line to order was going to the front door, but I did notice at least a dozen employees working and they we’re taking care of customers. The friendly cashier warned us it would take about 20 minutes, and it did but that’s expected for…well you know….food. Servers were very attentive and friendly in bringing our food out, and later checking on us. I loved the shrimp Michi taco. Fillings were hearty, and flavorful. The tortilla was homemade. The nachos were also great especially the carne asada, the chorizo refried beans, and the fried cheese topping. (Yes the nachos were messy, but then I remembered that nachos are SUPPOSED to be messy! I’m so glad they didn’t serve all the nacho toppings into bento boxes just to appease a reviewer with an agenda.) Definitely worth coming back to.

Terrible place to order from! I thought I finally found a great birria shop but everytime we come here it's ALWAYS an hour wait. Which would usually mean people are happily eating....WRONG! No one ever has any food, just a bunch of people sitting about waiting.

So today to avoid this disaster we placed and order at 11AM for pickup at 6PM. We were dressed like we were going to a real fancy restaurant since it was a date, didn't eat all day anticipating great food on our arrival. GOT INTO A CAR ACCIDENT on Newport Rd on the way there! So ended up there at 630PM with mascara running down my face and soaked with rain, hoping to redeem the night with great food (albeit cold since it's PAST pickup time.) WRONG AGAIN!

Place was packed but we found and empty dirty table. Took 20 minutes (650PM) just to talk to one employee at the front who was both in charge of order in and pickup. (At least have an "express line" for pickups!) She couldn't even figure out the system, until finally letting us know we still needed to wait another 30 minutes!

Finally at 725PM we were greeted to the site of our food after a long day.... ONLY FOR IT TO BE MISSING HALF THE ORDER! OMG WHAT!? It like wasn't connecting with the server that no we did not pay $51 for only FIVE STREET TACOS. After some back and forth where I showed them the charge AND emailed receipt AND emailed confirmation....we finally got our quesabirrias... AT 815! PRACTICALLY 2.5 HOURS past pickup time!

We shoveled down the street tacos since we were staving, honestly I don't even know if they were good or not with the way we inhaled them after 2.5 HOUR WAIT AFTER PICKUP TIME and took the quesas home.

Definitely not the look for $51 of 5 small street tacos, small consume and 3 small street taco sized quesadillas! Worst pickup/food experience in my life. We should've...

Michi was a mixed bag for me. The staff was friendly, the food was good, the wait time was unacceptable. I went on a taco Tuesday and expected it to be busy, but it was busier with online orders than anything. I ordered three tacos and waited 25 minutes for my order to go. I was not given to curtesy to inform me that there was a longer than usual wait time. I saw many online orders for pickup that were being taken by people, but no clue how long they waited before coming to pick up their order. Meantime I waited just for three tacos which in most places would take an average of 10 minutes or less. I know it is made to order but 25 minutes for simple order is not acceptable for a waiting customer who is standing there in your place vs. a person who is not even there. The tacos were good to excellent and all three were loaded with meat, the tortillas were stiff though, the Buche tacos was good but the Buche was over roasted. The cabeza and Lengua tacos were excellent. The complaint I have is I had to ask for salsa. I was not told that they put green none spicy salsa on the taco. When I asked for red spicy salsa the person asked if I wanted more of the green stuff and I said no. The second disappointment was no lime for the tacos. Like most tacos places they have a salsa bar for you to choose those condiments. None here. The price for the tacos were good on taco Tuesday but items like agua fresca at $5.00 was over the top for medium size drink. I will come back just for the food but I will have to order it online I guess to avoid over waiting...
